Vehicle Detail
It is with a heavy heart that I put my 1966 Fairlane GT 390 S-code up for sale tonight. I have owned this car since the 1990's, and performed an extensive restoration on her. The car is Springtime Yellow with Black professonally painted on GT stripes. The interior of the car was redone with new vinyl seats from Dearborn Classics, also new carpet and door panels and headliner from the above mentioned company, and has only minor dash and arm rest plastic chrome that needs to be finished, the pieces are all there and in place, but I never found a place to have them redone. The car itself was media blasted, etch primed, and then finally painted with the origional Springtime Yellow PPG enamel paint. While the car was completely stripped, I painted all the undercarriage, trunk areas, interior floor pans, and engine compartment with POR-15 Black. During the restoration, no quarter panels, or floor pans were replaced, as this was a Florida vehicle, and I am the third owner, and they were in excellent condition. The engine is a 390 big block from a 1966 t-bird as the origional was removed at some point. The engine was rebuilt and has modifictions which include a mild cam, aluminum intake, holley 750 doulbe pumper, and headers, and electronic ignition. I do not have the origional intake or exhaust manifolds. The 4 speed top loader transmission is origional to the car. All of the exterior chrome and stainless is in excellent condition, the hood louvers and rear trunk trim have slight paint wear, but still look nice. As you see, the car has the origional style steel wheels, with Kelly Charger tires. The car is not equipped with power steering, but drives very straight. The brake system is a single master cylinder drum brake system. The car rides as smooth as can be, considering its age, with no rattles. Clutch engine and drive train have approximately 7500 miles since the rebuild. The reason that I am seling her is personal, but I have convinced myself that she needs a new home, and someone to take her to car shows, and do all the final finishes I was not able to do.This is a beautiful 1966 head turner. The undercarriage is starting to show some wear in small areas, (slight surface corrosion) in areas where the metal is joined with other metal if you look closely, but in overall excellent showing condition. As for the exterior paint, there is no rust, and this is a very straight car.The only problem with the paint is a hairline crack on the ridge of the hood of the car which is only noticible if you are looking for it. I believe the paint was either put on too thin, or the crack was caused by slamming the hood down, never the less, its there. I have set a very low reserve for this rare of a vehicle, so my loss is your gain. On May-12-11 at 16:14:42 PDT, seller added the following information:I have finally gotte to a regular computer, and since I have listed this, I have been overwhelmed with the responses and interest in my car. I just want it to be known that I plan to take many detailed photos of the car including the vin and post them on ebay. The only issue I have is that I cannot get to them until tomrrow night(friday 5-13-2011, please be patient if I do not get them uploaded until Saturday morning, and for those of you who have already bid, I promise you you wont be dissapointed. Like i mentioned in the description, the reserve was set "very low for a car this rare". Thanks, Bill
