Many people feel that the 1997 Lincoln Town Car was the best of the breed. It was the last year for the classic styling and yet it used the more up to date driveline. This 1997 is an exceptional example. It is the top of the line "Cartier" edition and it has been pampered its whole life. The car has stayed within a small group of retirees that took great pride in it. Always garaged, never smoked in, and meticulously maintained with oil being changed every 3000 miles or less depending on how much it was driven and the transmission and cooling system were serviced regularly as well. Only top quality parts have been used such as Michellin tires and Interstate batteries. The Lincoln still wears its original "Silver Frost" clearcoat metallic paint which shines like new and the "Light Graphite" leather interior still looks stunning. The optional graphite carriage roof is in excellent condition and it gives the Town Car a very distinctive luxury car look. The car is completely rust free and even the undercarriage looks basically new (see photos). This Cartier is equipped with a host of luxury options including: Dual heated leather memory power seats, JBL audio system, keyless entry, automatic climate control, auto-dimming memory mirrors, steering wheel mounted temperature and radio controls, 16" aluminum wheels, electronic traction assist, built in garage door opener on the drivers sunvisor, electronic instrument cluster with tripminder message center, and of course power windows, locks, tilt, cruise control and all of the other things you would expect on a Lincoln. The Cartier option also included dual exhaust which gave you 20 more horsepower and a lower 3.27 rear axle ratio for increased performance. Finally, the previous owner added a bolt on receiver hitch for his mobility chair. You may not expect a car like this to give decent gas mileage but I get around 30 mpg on the highway. To my knowledge, everything on the Lincoln works as it should. There are no leaks or strange noises or anything like that. The car is amazingly straight with almost no parking lot dings. There are two 1/2" long scrapes on the rear bumper where the mobility chair contacted it which can hardly be seen in the photos. Also, for some reason, the bumper chrome strips have some light colored spots on them. Overall, the paint and trim on the car are incredibly nice as the photos show. The car has 99k miles but it could easily pass for a 30k mile car by the way it looks and drives. It was used primarily for vacations so most of the mileage was put on the highway as opposed to stop and go city driving. These cars are known to regularly go 300k miles without major repairs so there are many miles left on this Lincoln. This Cartier cost over $45,000 when new and this is your chance to own it for a small fraction of that cost. The car drives very smooth and strong and there are no issues that I am aware of. People compliment me on the car whenever I take it out for a drive. Although I have done my best to describe the Lincoln accurately, it is, of course, sold without a warranty. I do not have the car advertised locally at this time but I do reserve the right to end the auction early.
