Vehicle Detail
The Last pictures are not of the car that is for sale in this add. They are of what the car can look like. The car for sale in this add is the on that needs restoration. The good: 1951 Chevy 2dr will make a great original restoration or hot rod project or rat rod project. Last week, I set up a remote gas tank, put new plugs in the motor and cleaned the points. I put an old carburetor and it started. It did not run for very long before it would back fire out the carb and die. I got the motor to run for ten seconds 5 or 6 times. Their was no knocking or weird motor noise ( nice). I feel the timing and points gap need to be check along with the correct carb put on ( the carb I put on had a vacume leak, and is not the correct one for this motor). With a little tinkering this motor will run! I hate to even think of selling it because of how clean the body is. In walking around the car I did not see or feel any bondo or filler. I do not belive I will find another one in this type of unrestored shape in my life time. I have left it alone on purpose so that you can see what kinda shape this survivor is in. This car is mostly complete. It has what looks to have the orignal 6 cylinder motor and transmission in it. The car needed a carb to run and I would guess the tank would need to be cleaned out, It sat for years in a barn. All the wiring is in place although old. All the gauges are there, and the clutch petal works. The break petal goes to the floor, every thing in th break system is present. The car comes with lots of trim pieces and at least one fender skirt. The bad: What I know is missing the front grille and front and rear bumpers and front and rear head and tail lights. The seats where recovered some time in the past and need to be recovered again. The head liner is toast. The key switch is in the glove box and needs a key. needs a key for ignition made. The door panels are missing. and the side glass is their but cracked the front windows and rear looked good. Take a good look at the pictures they can tell you alot. I was planning a full restoration, but as the story goes I do not have the time or money right now. The ugly : The car has two dents, one in the trunk lid and one in the passenger side skirt. The drivers side floor where the master break cylinder is, has been rusted out and needs replacement panel. I have not pulled the carpet up to check the other floor boards out closely but they seem more solid when you push on them. The car looks like it is in pretty good shape when you look under neath it. The end: This car will make a great Original Restoration, Hot Rod or Rat Rod. It really may not take much more than a little tinkering to get it on the road. Or a person could do a full restoration on the car and spend lots of time and money and have a show car. Either way, I hope it goes to a good home. Some place a person will be proud to own her!!! Please ask any questions and I will try to get back to you fast. The car is not driveable so it will need to be towed from present location. deposit or payment arrangments due with in 24 hours. Happy bidding!!!!!
