Vehicle Detail

rodgergariano Store This is one of the cleanest best-maintained Jaguars you will find. The legendary XJR is sporty and luxurious at the same time. This interior of the coach is covered in fine leather and polished wood. All the seats are like new. The paint, classic British Racing Green, was freshened up over the past 2 weeks. I had all the horizontal surfaces repainted. There was a small amount of hazing starting (even though the car has always been garaged) and repaint was the best way to end it. OEM Jaguar paint was used. This has been a California car since day one, and there is NO rust. I just this week put over $2,000 into this car. I can email you scans of the invoice along with the mechanic's ntelephone number. Had an new timing chain and the upgraded tensioners (metal type) installed. Had all the fluids changed and an oil changed using Synthetic Oil (which is what I have always used). You should get many years of wonderful service from this vehicle. From the exterior and interior the car looks new. The carpets and leather are excellent. The top end of the engine was redone less than 1,000 miles ago. The super-charger underwent a complete servicing at the same time as the valve job. The 1998 Jaguar XJR has the Mercedes transmission and is considered the best to have. It too underwent a complete servicing less than 1,000 miles ago. The tires have less than 500 miles on them. Most of the service has been done by Santa Barbara Jaguar. This is a terrific powerful automobile. I am selling it because I am at the age where I am driving like the guy I hated being behind! Also my wife and I are the only drivers in the family and we have 5 cars. It was either this or my 1991 850 BMW. (The 1989 560SL will be up for auction as well this week) :( Jaguar's XJR is a car of considerable contrasts. Some of the sexiest sheet metal work in the automotive kingdom sits atop wide 18-inch wheels with tires so thin they look like rubber bands. Picture a sprinter in a tuxedo wearing track spikes and you get the idea. And what a sprinter it is. Unleash all 370 supercharged horsepower and it flies to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, just a few tenths of a second slower than the Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche 911. Pull out in the passing lane, press the throttle and it pins your ears back! Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, but that's academic unless you live in Germany. Jaguar says the XJR is intended to be a five-passenger sedan that "delivers a thrilling rush to autobahn velocity," yet remains docile at low speed. It succeeds at both. Should you want to mosey around town and revel in its luxury, you can do that with no hint that it has the reflexes of a jungle cat.The XJ8, upon which the XJR is based, comes from the marriage of the XJ body to the aluminum 4.2-liter V8 that first saw duty in the XK8 sports car. Its supercharged sister was created by bolting an Eaton supercharger and two air-to-water intercoolers to the aluminum twin-cam V8, tightening up the suspension and adding the five-spoke wheels with Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires. Chrome mesh fills the grille trimmed in body-color paint. This car is a head turner. This engine develops 387 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm. Torque is the force that spins the tires when you touch the gas. Even as low as 1,600 rpm it produces more torque than the normally aspirated engine does at its peak. This car is equipped with the Mercedes Transmission which was standard in 1998 (making it the best year for this car). Getting this much brawn to the pavement is the job of a Mercedes-Benz five-speed automatic transmission engineered to handle this high torque output. This unit, with Normal and Sport modes, starts off in second gear unless you slam the throttle wide open. Inside, the almost-black bird's eye maple trim contrasts nicely with the off-white, embossed Connolly leather. The power bucket front seats have sizable bolsters for lateral and lumbar support.Because the roof is low and the console wide, the interior feels more like a four-passenger sport coupe. The car is equally comfortable to a 6”-4” man or my 5’-2” tall wife. The 113-inch wheelbase and 197.8-inch overall length creates ample back-seat legroom and a good-sized trunk. It has heated front seats, a 240-watt Harman Kardon stereo with CD changer, front and side airbags, Automatic Stability Control (ASC) as well as low-speed traction control, anti-lock brakes, automatic climate control, tilt/telescope steering wheel, electric sunroof and keyless entry. Jaguar limited the number of XJR's exported to the USA yet all parts you may ever need are readily available from Jaguar and online. This car was targeted at the hardcore performance driver who also wants elegant looks, ferocious power and has the money to afford both. This Car is all the finest Jaguar has to offer. With all the work I just had done on the car, it will give you many years of fine service. YOU HAVE TO SEE AND TEST DRIVE THIS CAR TO APPRECIATE WHAT A FINE VEHICLE IT IS!!!Looks New! Please call me and I can meet up with you within a reasonable distance! Rodger: (818) 577-7904
