Vehicle Detail
This is the Pinto that was made famous to Pinto enthusiasts in the music video "Rollin in my Pinto" which can be viewed on youtube.com (parental discretion advised) http://youtu.be/tRIY5H7pDuo. It is a 1972 Ford Pinto Runabout with 99% of the original paint. The interior is also original and in great condition. The car has 54,520 original miles, and no rust or rust repair whatsoever. The chrome is all shiny and new looking, with no pitting. It still has the original AM radio and speaker, so there are no holes cut for other speakers. This car was elderly owned and garage kept in California until a Pinto collector bought it and drove it home to Illinois. It was then trailered to Western Michigan when I bought it a few years ago. The original paint still shines almost as new, and it is a real headturner. It took first place in a local car show for the 70's class. You will be guaranteed to get more looks, horn honks, thumbs-ups, and conversations when you take this car out than you will imagine. Please do not bid on this car if you intend to chop it or modify it. It is one of the few unmolested, like-new looking, mostly original and original style (small bumpers) Pintos around. It will only increase in value as Pintos become increasingly collectible. There is one crack in the dashpad just to the right of the driver, and there are a few nicks and dings, which do not detract from the awesomeness of this car. It would almost be a shame to put a dash cover on it or to repaint because of any of the small issues. The right headlight ring and a very small section of the front fender near it is all that has been re-painted. There are no leaks from this car and no smoking, as the engine has been rebuilt to original (2.0 liter 4 cyl), and can burn unleaded fuel. The whitewall tires are matching and in great shape. It is a VERY CLEAN car inside and out. Bid now to get your chance to own this rare piece of automotive history. I would be happy to assist with shipping, (shipping cost by buyer)however I have no way to deliver it. A paypal deposit of $500 at auction end is required, with balance due in cash or a verifiable certified bank check (if you have great feedback, and must be discussed with me) Please contact me with any further questions. Thank YouOn May-03-11 at 07:44:51 PDT, seller added the following information: A note about the license plates: The California plate on the front is not registered, it is only there for show as Michigan only requires a plate on the back of the vehicle. The unregistered CA plate can go with the car, although the MI plate on the back would have to stay with me, as a registered plate in MI stays with the person, not the car. Also, this June is the 40th anniversary of the Pinto celebration at the Ford show in Carlisle, PA. This car would make a nice addition to that show!On May-03-11 at 14:54:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Another note: The passenger side mirror is a newer aftermarket one, as the original owners had installed one and it would leave holes to not have one there. The only OEM passenger side mirrors were the bullet racing style to the best of my knowledge.
