I flew from LA to northern Cal last week to get this after extensive conversation with the seller. The car was not as described but we negotiated and I bought the car after a good test drive. I drove it home that night appx 600 miles... 80-90mph the entire time. I have not done anything to the car other than spray it off and take the pics below. I have decided to sell it and will describe everything I know and have been told. First, if you don't know these cars, google it... they are awesome, limited edition, real Porsches... drive excellent with super powerful 4 cylinder motor and 50/50 weight balanced chassis. The Cabriolets are rare and becoming quite collectable. Incredible bang for the buck. The Good... the car has very low miles for the year and an extensive car fax history showing primarily dealer service its entire life. It shows 86XXX miles but the odometer recently stopped working so assume a few more thousand... this is also backed up by the car fax. Florida/California car... no rust. I was told it had a recent full service including timing belts, rollers, etc at 79000. I do not have the records but did call the Porsche dealer that performed the service and confirmed it. It runs and drives AWESOME. really great driver all around with strong feeling and sounding motor, smooth shifting 6 speed and strong clutch. Steering and suspension feel good and tight. Drives straight down the road and cruises nicely at high speed. Good tires. Body is straight with some minor bumps and bruises. No signs of collision damage that I can see and appears to be original paint in Wimbledon Green. Interior is nice overall with perfect 8way power seats and carpets. The not so good... The owner before my seller had a change of his car storage situation and let the car sit in the weather for an extended period. The sun did some damage to the car... the dash is cracked... the paint on the hood and drivers fender is oxidized, the rear has some peeling clear cote. The top is damaged but I have a brand new one in a box that will go with the car for the "buy it now" price. Windshield has a crack, Some of the rubber moldings are also dry and cracked. It will need front brakes in the near future (pads and rotors available on ebay $150...) The A/C appears to work but does not blow cold... the windshield wipers just quit. Outer layer of drivers side tailight is cracked... inner layer is still there. I have not looked into anything on this car... I went to buy a primary driver and this is not it for me. I am going to sell it as is, cheap. I do not have the time to get into it right now. However it does run and drive great and has potential to be anything you want. As is would make an excellent beach car, auto-crosser or track car... the Cabriolets are much lighter than the coupes and have extensively reinforced chassis from the factory... they rock on the track. The car has a cool "patina" to it right now and with some minor work its a killer convertible sports car for the money... or go all the way and restore it to its full glory and you'll still have equity in a really elegant , great driving car. Thats pretty much all I know... I'm selling it for 1/2 of what a nice original 968 Cab with these miles and history sells for. Do not expect a show room car... this isnt it. The car is located in Beverly Hills CA... Inspections are welcome and encouraged but no tire kickers please. I am open to interesting trades in accordance with Ebay guidelines but no junk or projects please.
