1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - 4x4 - 128,202 Miles Runs and drives 100%. Strong motor and tranny. Being sold in "As Is" condition to the highest bidder - No Reserve! No Buy It Now! Truck has a computer problem. Can drive for days, weeks or hours before it conks out. Sit for 10 - 15 minutes and it restarts. If you are adventurous, you can drive it home. Minor automatic transmission fluid leak in the transfer case area - leaves a couple drops when parked and will leave a small (silver dollar sized) puddle when idling for 10 or so minutes. Tires and brakes are fine. AC is cold. Body and interior are nice. Motor is smooth - no noises or smoking. This truck will not pass NY State's inspection standards because the computer monitors have to reset. In NY, the emission part of the inspection process is very strict. If a battery goes dead or an illuminated “Check Engine” light is reset, the onboard computer has to relearn information that determines if the vehicle’s various systems are functioning properly (i.e. catalytic converter efficiency or proper air/fuel mixture). Sometimes a vehicle needs to be driven hundreds of miles for the computer to relearn this information. It is sometimes easier to sell such a vehicle out of state where these inspection laws don’t apply or the new owner can drive the car with purpose instead of wasting time and gasoline in order to accomplish the computer reset. If the “Check Engine” light should pop back on (sometimes for something as insignificant as a loose gas cap), the process starts all over again! More miles of driving aimlessly with time and fuel waste. New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy.
