Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful classic 1966 Triumph TR4A IRS (independent rear suspension). The I.R.S. offered the most comfortable ride yet ever in a TR. This kind of rear end was only found in high end cars of the time. Still has it's original California black plates! I have completely stripped and repainted frame, under body, engine compartment, passenger compartment, and trunk. Under body and frame are painted with the same paint as you see in engine compartment. Wheel wells are undercoated. Gas tank re-painted. Some rust found on driver side floor board. Caused from a missing drainage hose. Treated and patched. Other than that this is a very SOLID CAR! The following work all done with the goal of achieving the highest possible outcome, and it shows. : All new and painted front suspension with upgraded front stub axles and adjustable upper arms using all polyurethane bushings, new sway bar and links, rebuilt original brake calipers with new crossed drilled rotors and all new brake pads and hoses, installed new Lockheed power brake booster, new brake master cylinder, new clutch master and slave, original rebuilt SU HS6 carburetors on polished S/S heat-shields, with the very rare intake box and new end links, new fuel pump, new fuel tank sending unit, all new oil cooler set-up with stainless steel braided lines, new engine mounts, new S/S hardware throughout, added new S/S backup hood release, new exhaust from manifold back featuring polished stainless steel mufflers with mirror polished stainless steel twin exhaust tips. new water pump, thermostatically controlled electric fan in front of radiator (hidden from view), new battery, 65 amp alternator conversion with custom machined aluminum pulley for stock belt width, refurbished Lucas horns (original), refurbished wiper motor, all new bushings in steering column with new couplings and new steering rack, new pointless ignition, new rear tube shock conversion kit, rebuilt outer I.R.S. axles and inner sliding axles, new differential mounts, rear welded re-enforcement gussets for differential mount, new polyurethane trailing arm bushings with Zerk grease fittings installed, new windshield and rubber, new door window glass, new (NOS) window regulators, new door top rail/pads, new door weather stripping and fuzzy rope, re-upholstered seats in leather as original, new interior panel kit, new glove box, new roll bar, new wool carpet, new floor mats with the Triumph logo, refurbished dashboard with all it's original gauges, new dash support cover and all new dash pads including the switch mounting plate, new Kenwood CD radio with remote, new day/night rear view mirror, added for safety a new Lucas hazard switch (to blink all turn signal lights at once), NOS Talbot door mirrors, new front bumper, new tires on it's original wire wheels with new knock off's, new rear trunk deck/floor & seal, (it has the original spare wheel below with new tire) new original jack, The engine was rebuilt by previous owner in the late eighties by Bishop-Buehl Engineering Automotive & Marine Racing Engines in Arcadia, CA. Motor runs strong and sounds wonderful. It is a true joy to drive this car. Oil pressure at operating temperature is 45lbs @idle & 75lbs at 3500RPM. Drives straight and true and nice and tight in corners and curves. Power assisted braking is very strong. Transmission works fine. I swapped the Differential because it needed seals and I thought it would be easier just to buy a good used one. Turned out to have a very mild noise, so I will include the original differential that I know is good, just needs seals. LH portion of frame behind lower a arm has a slight wrinkle probably caused by slipping off a scissor jack or jack stand. Paint looks ok but is faded, chipped, and cracked in places. Rear bumper is good, just needs re-chroming. Also included is a hard top that features a removable sunroof, glass rear window and pop out quarter windows. Hard top does need a new rear seal. Mileage on speedometer I'm guessing is low because it most have been rebuilt. This is a gorgeous TR4A with very appealing color.
