Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 First off I will only be accepting cash for the payment of this car. If you don’t have the money please don’t bid. I won’t deliver the car, I will not end the auction early… If you have a price in mind put that as your high bid and ebay will bid for you automatically until that price is met. I have the car listed with no reserve. Now to the car description: 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier, 2 door, Automatic transmission, 124,747 miles, clear title, basic transportation. This car has been my grand father’s car for 12 years and before that it was bought by my great grand father brand new and he only drove it a couple years until he couldn’t drive any more. My great grand father lived in upstate NY so that is where the rust through on the quarter panel is from. The car structure is solid and safe, just the one quarter panel has rust. My great grand father got into a few accidents with it before they took his license away so that is where the accident reports are from if there are any on the history report. Anyways, my grandfather got another car so it is up to me to sell this one. I don’t want to keep it because of the ugly body work, poor working A/C and the fact that it was my grandfather’s car. I have driven the car for several hundred miles just doing everyday stuff. The pictures were taken about a week and a half ago and as of this listing the car now has 124,747. It drives nice for what it is. Here is what I have to report… Engine: It runs fine even though the check engine light has been on for years. I'm guessing the cause of the engine light is something minor that doesn’t affect the drivability of the car. When you start the car the check engine light is not on but it almost always clicks on once you get driving down the road awhile. There is no emissions testing in this part of Georgia so the light is not an issue here and the car has never had to pass emissions. If your area has emissions testing you would need to get the light to stay off… Even if you get the light to stay off this car may or may not pass emissions…Please know that. The serpentine belt and tensioner were replaced about 4 years ago. A new battery and alternator were put in not to long ago. The exhaust pipe was also repaired not to long ago (It kind of sits low under the car but it works and is quiet). I also just changed the oil and filter. The oil and filter changes have been done when they should have for the life of the car. Transmission: Shifts well and has never been a problem. Power steering: It works like it is suppose to but the pump seems to have a quiet whine to it when spinning the steering wheel at idle. It may last for a long time that way but I’m just making it known… There is no leaks and the fluid is at the right level.Suspension, Brakes, Tires, Lights: Suspension works fine (It rides/drives like a 1995 Caviler, not a Cadillac). Brakes work real good with no pulsing of the pedal or shaking of the steering wheel. Tires are like new (I would say 80% or better tread on all 4). All of the lights work on the car. Headlights, brake lights, turn signals, marker lights. The one front marker light got cracked. I repaired it and it works/looks fine. Body/Paint: Not very nice at all to be honest. The clear coat has been cooked off the roof, trunk, on the hood in many small places and on one spot on the driver’s door. The car also has the one rusted out quarter panel and other paint issues that I show in the pictures. Like I mentioned before the car has been in an accident or two so the body work is not 100% perfect in a lot of places. I took some pictures of the stickers some of the NY body shops stuck on the car. Interior: Everything is ok except… The passenger seat bottom sort of collapsed in the center (You can see this in the pictures). It’s not really that uncomfortable, heck if your passenger is taller they will have more head room. :) Also the interior rear view mirror obviously fell off at some point… Who ever glued it back on didn’t center it properly and it now interferes with the driver’s sun visor when you put the visor down. You can push the visor all the way against the windshield but you have to move the mirror so you end up seeing most of the left side of the car and just about none of the right… Some real careful planning was put into that effort. :) Also the radio works about 10% of the time… The power button is screwy, you can’t turn it off once you turn it on… The station tuner/volume is screwy and will randomly start going through stations while it is on and no matter what you do you can’t stop it. The cover plate likes to come off to. All in all the radio is a pain and it is probably best to get a new one for the long term if you plan on using the radio. Climate control: Heat works. A/C barley works. This car didn’t come from the factory with A/C. My great grandfather didn’t want it or need it in NY. When my grand father bought it he had to have the A/C installed because he lives down here in GA. The A/C was installed at a shop in NY and the guy didn’t have factory parts so he installed an after market unit which has never worked very well at all. The A/C sort of works on say a 70 or 80 degree day but when it gets any hotter out and you really need it, it pretty much does nothing. You can maybe give it a recharge and see if it helps but I have never bothered with it because I know it doesn’t really work 100% to begin with. Anyways that’s all I know about the car and I have been as truthful as I could be. All in all it is a cheap, reliable, kind of ugly 16 year old car with out to many amenities but it should get you to where you need to go. If you have any other questions contact me through ebay e mail and I’ll try my best to answer them. Also for anyone asking if it will handle a cross country trip… Possibly, but I can’t make any guarantees. The car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty or guarantees.
