I am pleased to present, a clear title 1974 Volkswagen Thing project car that is ready for a restoration and/or any type of custom build. It is missing the engine, but has a trans in it. It has suffered minor accident damage to the left-rear, but with some replacement used rear-suspension components and only a small amount of time on a frame machine- the body will be 100% straight again and it will drive on the road like factory again. A few damaged body panels, some extra parts, almost everything included besides the engine itself. The steering wheel is currently loose and the ignition/switch assembly has been taken off the steering column. Car needs to be towed away on a flat-bed or picked up by a car-shipper as an inop. vehicle. I picked this car up from a guy in an airplane hanger at the airport, he was a pilot and car guy with another nice condition VW Thing (white) and a VW Superbeetle and other projects, he needed to get rid of this orange project car! I was excited to take this on as a project with my business partner for our shop, but sadly he does not agree with me and so that's why we offer it here now. I pulled old carpet off the floorboards and threw away a small amount of junk to take pics. There is some serious rust in areas, nothing bad affecting the structural integrity, all manageable- floorboards just pretty much destroyed everywhere. See pics, 1 yellow door is damaged and the stock front-right fender is missing- the yellow replacement included has been crunched and mostly hammered-out in repair. Missing a couple lights on the car, cracked windshield. Coffee cans of hinges bolts screws fasteners etc removed from the car. This is a great 1974 'Type 181' Thing project car ready for restoration and use again on the road, Utah clear title, the car is located just about 10 minutes from Salt Lake City downtown. Restore it to 100% stock, or build a custom Baja/rally/sand car, there are a lot of possible directions to take this. Pick an engine for the car, anywhere from stock to 400HP with turbo and beyond are options I still think I'll own another VW Thing someday later..
