1984 Volvo 242 GLT Turbo Up for sale is my beloved 242...I had previously posted this on eBay then a local guy wanted to buy it, well he backed out at the last moment so i'm back to square one. The 242's are becoming rarer(especially the inter-cooled Turbo models). I am only selling because I need something a little newer that can get me through the rest of high school and college without having to invest much time into it..I have invested A LOT of time and money into this car, I don't want to see it end up in a scrap yard. If you know anything about these cars, you will know what a blast they are and what tanks Swedes can build! I have attempted to accurately describe the car in this ad, but I may have overlooked something and you are encouraged to look over the pics carefully before bidding! I am happy to answer any questions I can. THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE A WARRANTY! Thanks and happy bidding! The Good: The engine runs well and pulls strong New turbo seals( I pulled the turbo and replaced them myself) New Alternator New Spark plugs and wires New distributor cap & rotor Optima battery Coolant was flushed when I did the turbo Two new heater core hoses New 3” exhaust from the catalytic converter back, Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow muffler Good tires 4 speed with overdrive(the overdrive functions correctly) Engine was rebuilt about approx.100k ago Power windows Power locks New front brake pads, calipers and rotors and lines from the couplings to the calipers New(used) grille The Bad: Manual sunroof dosen't function(the mechanism wore out) but it dosen't leak AC dosen't work: the condenser was replaced, but it needs piece of pipe and the dashboard control is not connected Clutch or first gear is starting to slip a little Engine sometimes makes a slight tapping noise, It has not effected engine performance and I have been told it just needs a valve spacer or new valve guides(I believe both of those operations can be done with the head still attached to the block) Paint is in fair shape This was a PA car before I bought it so the salt has taken it's toll, the rust damage can be repaired but I have not had the time to do so(see pics) This car was involved in a low-speed rear end collision about 4 years ago(I knew the previous owner when it happened), it cracked the rear taillights and scratched the bumper but didn't do any other damage as far as I know A previous owner(two before me) hit a deer and therefore the hood is slightly warped When I was learning to drive stick, I accidentally popped the clutch and ran into the back of our pop-up camper, which is why there is a quarter-sized ding in the front edge of the hood The engine runs a bit ruff at start-up, I believe this is caused by a leaky injector because it goes away after it warms up a bit Interior is not in the best shape The dashboard is cracked, front seats are not original(they were replaced with blue cloth as you can see in the pics) The driver's seat slides forward and back but dosent recline or fold forward for access to the rear seat Passenger seat functions normally Rear seat leather is cracked, torn and missing in some areas OE Volvo rubber floor mats are in good shape but the carpet is stainedThe Autocheck says that this car has had two owners, that is incorrect, I am the fourth owner. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS AN OLD CAR! IT NEEDS SOMEONE WHO CAN GIVE IT THE ATTENTION AND CARE IT DESERVES! THIS CAR DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY WARRANTY!
