2000 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI dark blue exterior gray interior 5 speed manual transmission 1.9 liter TDI turbo diesel engine gets between 40 to 50 miles per gallon GLS model comes equipped with: -- power windows-- power doorlocks-- keyless entry-- power sunroof-- power windows-- 6-disc rear-mounted CD changer-- upgraded MONSOON stereo system-- 15" alloy wheels -- tilt steering wheel -- all-season floormats I am the 3rd owner of this 2000 Jetta TDI. I purchased it in August 2008 in Maryland. Since then, I have put on about 14,000 miles of mixed city and highway driving. On average, I have gotten 46 miles per gallon, with a minimum of 38 mpg on a tank and a maximum of 56 mpg. This car is in good shape and ready for another 100,000 miles. The car starts up strong every time and is always ready to go! I am selling it because I moved from the suburbs into Washington DC. We only have garage space for a single car. I have driven this car less frequently since this past summer when we moved. I have kept a careful log of each fuel fill-up since August 2008 as well as all the maintenance history. I have included this information below. As this is a used high-mileage car, I also include a vigilant list of all the imperfections that I have noticed over the years. When it does, the code is P1557. This code has to do with turbo pressure going out of range. The possible culprits are the N75 valve or the turbocharger. -- Sometimes, I get a grind when I shift into 1st gear at a dead stop. I have a habit of always putting the shifter into 2nd gear and then moving into 1st. I never have any issues when I follow this sequence.-- Bloken glovebox hinge-- Rear defroster does not work. This may be a problem with the dashboard switch.-- The car only comes with a single key/remote.-- There is a small crack in the windshield.-- Wear on interior pieces such as steering wheel and door handles. GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS JETTA TDI-- Well-documented history of impressive fuel economy-- Has a timing belt which is ready for another 86,000 miles. The timing belt replacement for TDIs is notoriously expensive (>$1000).-- Starts up strong on the coldest and warmest days due to recent alternator, battery, and glow plugs replacements.-- This is not the stripped GL model which does not come with power accessories (windows, mirrors, sunroof).-- A/C blows COLD in the summer and heat blows HOT in the winter. -- Has a 5 speed manual transmission. The automatic transmissions do not last as long as the bulletproof TDI engines and are prohibitively expensive to replace.-- Be prepared for >$4.00 per gallon gasoline this summer with this high-mileage diesel VW.-- Be part of a great community of TDI drivers at TDIclub.com. This is an invaluable resource for all VW diesel drivers.-- Cut the fuel lines when driving on the NJ Turnpike and interstates!
