Vehicle Detail
1979 International Scout II, 345 V8, 4x4, no need to bring a trailer as you can drive this Scout home. Just in time for summer this beach buggy is a real head turner. I started restorations when I bought her four years ago, but have been out of work since last July . Wife said something has to go. So any how here’s the good and the bad. Exterior- novice paint job, it came out orange peel looking, some cracking bondo up around the windshield and around the fenders, some scratches mainly where the hard top went on and off, minor dings, I have the hard top but it has a lot of rot on the bottom you can take it or leave it, all exterior lights work, right rear tail light lens is cracked , the tires are Michelin LTX M/S 31x10.50 R15 and they have maybe 25% tread left, stock rims have some surface rust, step and tow rear bumper, rust hole about an inch in diameter in tailgate, tailgate is sticky but opens and shuts, all glass is good, the windshield has a ding in it but it’s not spider webbing, windshield wipers work but passenger side doesn’t ride the glass very well, windshield washer is inop, doors open and close but the passenger side sticks, new bikini top. Interior-Rust holes in floor by accelerator pedal, behind drivers seat (large) and in the back bed around the fender wells, brand new seat covers for front bucket seats, seats are in good shape otherwise, rear seat is in excellent shape, paint inside is scratched and doesn’t look all that great, door panels are gone, A/C worked up until last spring, probably needs recharge, speedometer needs recalibration it’s between five to eight mph off, temperature gauge is inop, but engine is not over heating, some dash lights are inop, aftermarket Grant racing steering wheel (I still have the old one if you want it), horn is inop, Pyramid am/fm CD player with pair of Blaupunkt speakers along with box speakers all work. Mechanical- minor oil leaks, just replaced valve cover gaskets this winter, 4x4 works great, dual exhaust with cherry bombs I think is leaking a bit at the manifold, new remaned Carter Themoquad carb, new power steering pump and reservoir, new starter solenoid, new electronic ignition and coil, sometimes starts hard, sometimes blows smoke at start but clears right out, frame is in good shape, I put a steering stabilizer on a year ago so steering is very touchy, 727 torque flight automatic transmission shifts nice and smooth, accelerator pedal sticks at times, just tap pedal and it becomes unstuck, two year old Monroe shocks all the way around, I have a 2” body lift kit new in box that I never installed to go with it. I feel I have represented this vehicle to the best of my ability, I will answer any questions you might have, I will also e-mail any specific pictures you might want to see. The reserve is set at what I feel is low but fair, don’t ask me what it is because that’s why it’s hidden in the first place. Thanks for looking and your consideration.
