Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1981 Mercedes Benz that has been in our family since birth. My grandparents bought it new in California. I got the vehicle in late 2003. The interior is in very good condition no rips, tears or scratches on any of the seats. There are 2 seat covers not shown for the front seats. There are also 2 floor mats not shown. There is a spot above the passenger door where the weather stripping is coming off. The dash clock is also not working dealer said it is probably just a wire that is off behind the dash. We are needing to downsize and want to use the garage for a new vehicle otherwise we would of probably painted the car this summer and continued to store it. The paint is original and there are a couple places on the hood, and sides from normal wear and tear here and there but no major damage. There are 2 small rust spots one below the gas compartment and another drivers side lower rear panel. The vehicle has been stored in a garage it's entire life. There are some cracks in the dash and we have provided custom dash cover. There is a crack in the windshield as well. Vehicle did pass emissions in CA haven't needed it here our county doesn't require it. These vehicles were not made for speed but rather MPG and reliability. This car gets upwards of 30mpg. It is not a mountain car however needs a good home. It comes with a set of chains that we have never used as we do not use it in the winter at all. I have a service manual that my grandfather kept careful and accurate records in since the vehicle was new. In some cases there are his handwritten notes and in others the dealer stamp. Everything was done according to the manufacturers direction. I did the same when I got the car and also kept hard copies of maintenance performed. The following is what has been done since I owned the car in addition to regular oil changes etc. @ 165905: Replaced voltage regulator @ 179,069: Valve cover gasket and adjustment, replace a/c belt, replace power steering belt, replace alternator belt, bleed all hoses replace fluids @1 79,453: Replace rear shocks @ 179730: Replace front brakes, pads, rotors and sensor. wheel seals, packed wheel bearings. Tires were replaced at Big O appx 14k ago (in good shape) Please don't hesitate to ask any and all questions. This is one of the vehicles that is easy to convert to alternative fuel. It runs fine and to be honest we don't want to sell it but feel guilty it's just sitting. There is a reserve set for this auction but it is lower than half the buy it now price. On Mar-31-11 at 10:12:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Vehicle sells as is.
