Vehicle Detail
Attention Mercedes lovers… For sale is a 1987 Mercedes 300D with turbo. This is a 6 cylinder turbo Diesel. It runs good. Fully Equipped If you know anything about Mercedes Diesels, is that they run forever and get good gas mileage. Over the years, the engine & transmission was completely maintained and all service work was done as needed & just recently (last month) had all of the glow plugs replaced. You simply can't beat a Mercedes diesel! It has great fuel economy!! If you know diesels, you know how long they last. Put your knowledge to use and get a great ride for a great price. This would make a great grease car. Run biodiesel or convert to waste vegetable oil (WVO) or straight veggie oil (SVO)!!! You can't beat FREE FUEL!!! This vehicle is true Mercedes. It is built like a small tank This is a work horse Diesel!! And has been dependable, even though it has over 356,000 miles on it, it probably has a lot more life left in it. My brother is the “original owner”, he bought it brand new, and there were no other owners!! Since my brother is the original owner, he has the original window sticker, original bill of sale invoice, sales brochure, and owner’s manuals and also kept most of the service receipts too!!! The title is clear & is still in his name and is signed & ready to go! It’s an automatic, with a dark blue exterior (original paint), it could use a new paint job, the paint is faded in places, and the clear-coat has peeled off on the drivers side fender & near the trunk/rear quarter panel area, and it also has a few light scratches here & there, but no rust or rust holes… For being a 24 year old car, these things are expected……As I mentioned, it could definitely use a paint job!! (or drive & enjoy it as is). The carpets are in really good shape too. Tires are near new condition!! Tires have less than 9k miles on them and were replaced about a year ago. The battery was also the replaced around the same time too. The Air Conditioning even works. Years ago, it was converted it 134A; a new AC compressor & other miscellaneous AC parts were used, converting it to 134A AC. My brother bought a “new car” a few years ago, and this car was only used as a backup car & occasionally driven on weekends. Prior to that the car was driven daily with no problems. It has tan leather interior, and has a few tears on the driver’s front seat, and the rear seat/interior is in good shape. The dash in good shape too. The door panel/handle on one or two of the doors may need to be replaced or repaired, (which is just a cosmetic thing) & the right rear window switch that make windows go up & down may need to be replaced, I never checked into it, and one or two of the switches that moves the front seat up & back will need to be replaced too. The original radio works, but needs to be reset, currently is not working. One good thing is you can drive this car daily while you’re restoring it!!! In the meantime, you can do some of the cosmetic & restoration stuff at your convenience. The parts that you need such as; window & door switches, door panel & some other minor stuff, can be purchased at your local junkyard, eBay or even craigslist, relatively inexpensive. My brother temporarily disconnected the central locking system, because the factory alarm system was going off once in a while for no reason, so he disconnected it and hasn’t had it looked at to get it corrected. For some reason, once in a while the "antilock" brake light on dash comes on, but then goes out. Also, the rear antenna stays down. As I mentioned earlier, it could definitely use a paint job…. That's about all I know about the car. I honestly don’t know if he needs anything else. The reserve price is low and fair…It’s probably best to email me with questions, but I really don't know much more. If I can think of anything else, I will add it to the listing. If I have missed anything, or if anything is unclear, please ask before bidding...I will happily answer any questions. If you're close by and want to see it, just let me know, I will gladly show you the car….It’s probably best if you see the car in person (if you can). Windshield & all other glass is fine This is classified a "classic", no Maryland inspection required if you want to put Historic tags on it, and being a diesel, its exempt from emissions in Maryland. If you decide to do a Maryland state inspection, the repairs, etc., are up to you. I recently had the oil changed, new filter, etc… Ride & drive it away!! You can drive this car anywhere Since this car is almost 24 years old & has high mileage it’s being sold as is with no guarantees. The reserve price is low to reflect the year and mileage… Please keep in mind when bidding; this is a 24 year old car……. (May consider a trades on a 1996 - 1998 Mercedes E320, that needs some work) or a 1950’s/1960’s 2 door project car I would consider ending the auction early….. Since I have this car advertised locally, I have the right to end the auction early & at any time. US SALES ONLY…..NO SALES outside the US. If you decide to have it shipped, the shipping & towing costs are up to you. I will gladly help in any way possible…..
