Vehicle Detail

This is a May, 1971 (Series 2) 240Z . Lordy, lordy, in May she'll be forty! Drive Train: 280Z long block with orginal SUs, a '79 Datsun 12-80 electronic distributor, original air cleaner and accessories. Like new clutch and pressure plate and throw out bearing. 4 Speed tranny. Electric fuel pump. Mileage listed above on odometer; highly suspect it's been around at least once. All brakes have tons of pads/shoes remaining. Interior: All interior pieces were removed (except dash) including glass, to facilitate full silver paint everywhere. There is no rust on this car, that I can see. I did find a couple of small spots but they were acid treated or welded or both. Original interior except seats; they are Mazda Miata seats. Lap belts replaced with newer Nissan lap and shoulder retractable belts. Exterior: Car was originally silver so when the engine was out, engine bay, interior and all exterior repainted original silver color. All interior painted with catalytic hardened single stage paint, exterior two stage; again original color. It's a beauty. Title is salvage; in California, that means it had to be inspected for safety prior to DMV issuing a title. I found stickers on the bumpers indicating they were re-chromed in Salinas CA, in 1980. I assume that was when it came back to life. It drives straight, accelerates straight and stops straight. It's a sweet driver. Why am I selling it:? I wanted a track Z car and once I got close to getting it done, I realized it was too nice to do that; That's why the 280Z motor. The original numbers matching 2400 CC motor with E31 head is available. The original 240z motor needs freshening but it was running when I took it out. What's wrong with this car? Door switches don't light the dome light. The dome light works when pushed. I assume switches are in need of attention. Doors are still a tad hard to close; I suspect it's the new weatherstripping but they are getting easier and easier to close as time passes. Rear hatch doesn't have perfect alignment on driver's side nor does defrost work in rear window. No radio or antennae. I will include a Nissan truck radio and electric antennae. Windshield washer motor quit but only recently. This is one of the best Zs that's been on Ebay in the last couple of months. It does not need anything to drive and enjoy. It looks nice, all the instruments work great; the clock works super. One sweet driver that is an eyecatcher. Smiles and compliments abound. On Mar-26-11 at 18:57:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: added information as of Mar 26 6:49 PDT. I added 4 pictures to better show the car interior and door jambs. I was asked if the striker guides on the doors were intact. Not originally, but I had a couple of broken ones to copy so a machinist made me two, one for each door, out of aluminum vice the pot metal they are originally made of. I do not think these will fail and they help the doors close properly. The other pictures are of the threshold displaying the polished aluminum threshold with the word Datsun embossed on it. Thanks for watching and bidding. EricOn Mar-27-11 at 20:09:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Second note: The dash is an aftermarket dash cap, it looks original but it is a cap.
