Vehicle Detail

For sale Austin Mini Turbo. For sale is my Austin Mini, it is registered as 1967 but is built around a Mk4 bodyshell and running gear. The Car was completely stripped and rebuilt from the ground up. The engine and gearbox were also completely rebuilt with appropriate modifications to ensure that they could take the extra power of a turbo. The car does a ¼ mile in the mid 15 second area and has a 0-60 in the mid/low 7 seconds, and is a blast to squirt around the backroads…At the rolling road test with 10psi it produced 109BHp at the wheels, which equates to approx 130BHp at the flywheel. This engine could take higher boost/power but I find the power fine for the traction that is currently available. So why am I selling? - Well I'm in the hobby for the tinkering and this one is done, Its been fun but as I only have a single garage it has to reluctantly go to make room for my next project. The Rebuild is fully documented on my personal website, search for "terrys turbo mini" or contact me with any questions. I hope you can see that I do not mess around, any parts that were not up to scratch or subject to wear were replaced, nothing was left out. I included a few pictures of the rebuild which I hope indicate the quality of this rebuild. Many more are available on my website which fully documents the rebuild. The body was stripped to a bare shell, new panels and repairs were made and the shell was painted with an epoxy primer followed by hi-build primer this was block sanded, primed again then block sanded. Finally the blue 2pack topcoat was applied.. Underneath the car the shell has a coating of rocker schultz over the epoxy which was then covered by topcoat paint. The rear subframe is new and both front and rear suspensions and subframes have all new nylatron or upgraded rubber mountings and new cones with fully adjustable components plus SPAX adjustable shocks. Hi-los are at the front, the trumpets have been adjusted at the rear. The brakes are standard drums at rear and drilled slotted disks at front with greenstuff pads and a servo. The 1293cc engine was completely rebuilt as a fast road car with attention to reducing turbo lag as much as possible. A brand new modern design GT15 turbo was used with a Kent 266 camshaft and 8.5 Compression ratio selected to keep the engine responsive when not on boost. The small turbo and custom manifold avoided the need to cut the front crossmember. A distributor-less, programmable Megajolt ignition system is used which has a MaP sensor to allow retard when on boost. There is a wideband O2 sensor and analog display plus a knock sensor. The Carb needle was custom adjusted for the engine configuration. Forged pistons/ARP rod bolts and duplex timing chain with offset key for adjustment was used. A Turbo head with sodium exhaust valves and the turbo spec crankshaft were used from a Metro turbo donor engine. The gearbox was totally rebuilt with new synchros and all new bearings. A Crosspin diff with 2.95 ratio gives a comfortable high speed cruise. A KAD quickshift is installed. Straight cut drop gears were used with higher power in consideration and these are a little noisy on acceleration and clatter a bit at idle but that is totally normal. The noises are music to my ears but if not, the original helicals are included and could be reinstalled to make the car quieter as long as the boost is not raised above 10psi. A few points for anyone considering this car:- The bodywork was completed about 4 years ago, The engine almost 3 years ago. When I say "new" I mean new when it was rebuilt. Its not set up for cold (i.e. freezing) weather, there is no cabin heater installed (but its included) and the inlet manifold is not heated. However these could be reconfigured. The grey clutchplate is a little heavy on the foot, girls need not apply!! at 10psi you could go to an orange clutchplate. Straight cut drop gears can be noisy, both at idle and during accelleration. They are set up with high tolerence so are not too bad and I like the noise but check the internet for info. The original helicals are included. It has Subaru seats in the front which are much more comfortable than the originals. However the originals will be included in the sale and can be reinstalled. Winning bidder is required to make a deposit of $500.00 through PayPal within 48 hours. The balance should be paid within 7 days either by wired transfer or Bank Draft. If payment by Bank Draft, the car will only be released when the Bank Draft is cleared with the Seller's Bank. Contact the Seller for payment arrangement. Drilled and slotted front 8.5" disks with greenstuff pads. Standard brake servo Bodywork/Interior Stripped to bare shell, new panels and weld repairs as needed. Front Crossmember was NOT modified for turbo, but a cutout was made in the right inner wing for the intercooler. Epoxy basecoat, hi build primer and 2-pack topcoat paint Rocker schulz to the underside New s/s bumpers New window rubber and trim all round New chrome door handles, boot handle and boot hinges New black headliner Subaru front seats (originals included) Retro instrument panel and steering column pod with Rev counter, boost and fuel ratio guagesOn Apr-01-11 at 19:26:39 PDT, seller added the following information:I just checked out my old photo's and could read the speedo from a photo back when it was installed, so I can say the engine has 4000mls and the tyres 5000 miles. Also This car is obviously a one off, A lot of stuff will not be covered by Haynes! I will be including as much info as I can on a CD plus the cables, software and map backups of the Megajolt and cables/software for the Innovate O2 sensor.
