Vehicle Detail

Let me start by stating that I never thought that I would have to sell this car. Due to financial obligations, I must sell this awesome machine. I will describe this car fully, accurately and honestly. I will probably over emphasise the negatives, I don't want the new owner to have any suprises. I want the new owner to love and enjoy it as much as I have. I have loved this car every minute I have owned it.You can't get a mile from the house without someone flagging you down or giving you a thumbs up. I bought the car in Febuary 1992, it has been in the rain once since I have owned it. It was stored in a car port the first 9 years and has been stored in the garage the last 10 years. This car is in great mechanical condition. VEHICLE HISTORY: The V.I.N. breaks down as follows: (242379B123486) Pontiac, GTO, 2 door coupe, 1969, Baltimore, production sequence. The body tag decodes as follows: 1969 (model year) 24237 (division series) Baltimore (assembly plant) 529463 (unit number) 258 (trim combination (Black) 57 (lower body color (Midnight Green) upper body color (cordova top) 10D (time build code(4th week,October). This GTO left the factory with the following options:Turbo Hydromatic transmission, Power steering, Cordova top, Rally 2 wheels, Gauge-tac & clock (Rallye Dash), Console, Disc brakes, Radio,Safe-T-Track, S/R glass, Steering wheel, G78x14 tires, head restraints, speakers, door edge guards,spg&shks-r/h DOCUMENTATION: I have all of the PHS doccuments for this car, according to the PHS this GTO was sold to Heights Motors Inc. in Chicago Heights Illinois on 11/29/1968. I have a Tennessee Title dated 1983 that was given to the guy who I bought the car from in 1992. The State Of Alabama does not issue titles on vehicles older than 1976. I will provide the buyer with the Tennesse Title and a bill of sale. It is the buyers responsibility to find out how to title the vehicle in their state. I have all of the receipts that the previous owner spent on this car as well as all of the receipts that I have spent on the car the last 19 years. PAINT & BODY: The current color (carousel red) was painted in late 1989. It shines up nicely and looks good from 10 feet away. Up close, it shows it's age. The paint is chipping in the jambs and trunk. There are ruff areas coming up on most panels, I have taken a clay bar to some of it, it smoothed out some but I think that it is under the paint. I used a magnet on the car today. The only places that I could tell there was filler were: driver's side front fender, driver's side sail panel, passenger rear 1/4 (lower and wheel well) and decklid. There are uneven gaps on doors and hood. There is an area with rust through on the deck lid. There are several tiny holes in the trunk floor where it has rusted through. There is a patch on the passenger side floorboard. There is also some damage to the endura bumper. It has open fiberglass hood scoops that are always open. The frame is solid, it does have some surface rust and road grime. INTERIOR: The front seats are in very good condition, the foam is sagging in the front seat bottoms. The rear seat is in great condition. The dash has cracks in it. The headliner is separating on a couple of seams. The carpet is in good condition and does have some discoloration/fading. The console is in very good condition. The steering wheel is in great condition. The speedometer is off due to a gear change. The clock works intermediately. The factory oil pressure guage does not work, the under dash mounted oil pressure guage does. The hood tach quit working about six months ago (the light works but it does not). The Hurst Duel Gate shifter is in great working condition. The windshield does have a small round stone chip (smaller than a dime). The rest of the glass is in very good condition with what I would call normal wear for a car of this age. There are no lap belts in the car. It has a tilt steering wheel. ENGINE/DRIVELINE: I was told by the previous owner that the motor was out of a 1968 GTO. The engine is stamped "WT" which is the 350 horsepower 400 cubic inch motor for a 4 speed car and "0327368". The heads are stamped "48" and "K308" which I think breaks down to November 30 1968. The motor cranks easily, sounds great, does not smoke and is VERY strong. The motor was rebuilt by the previous owner. I have been using mobile 1 in it for about the past 17 years. I change the oil at least once a year. I had the oil changed last week. I always have used a Delco or Mobile 1 filter. It has a Edlebrock P4B intake manifold, Holley dual line 780 cfm carb with electric choke, Pertronix conversion in the distributer, MSD Blaster 3 coil, Old school fiberglass Ram air upper and lower pans, ceremic coated headers, complete Flomaster 2 1/2 inch exhaust system with h-pipe and mufflers, It sounds awesome. It does have an exhaust leak from the header gasket. New gaskets should fix the leak. It has a turbo 400 transmission. It does have a shift kit and shifts hard, it will chirp the tires on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. The rear end is a 12 bolt with an auburn locker and 4:11 richmond gears. I had special coils put in the rear with air bags. Car has absolutely no wheel hop. I noticed when I had it on the rack that the airbags are split. It has power steering. It does not burn or leak any fluids. The car runs cool and has never overheated. WHEELS, TIRES & BRAKES: I have recently spent $1,200.00 on the brake system. I replaced the master cylinder, brake hold off valve, both front calipers and both rear wheel cylinders. The brakes work better now than they ever have. It has discs on the front and drums on the rear. The parking brake is not hooked up, it was that way when I bought the car. The tires are 225x70x15 on the front (they do rub slightly on wheel molding when turned all the way) and 235x70x15 on the rear. The tires have been on the car for about 15 years, they only have about 5,000 miles on them. They do not show any signs of dry rot and they ride very good. The wheels are Ralley II's. They were restored back in the late 1980's. They are straight but some of the paint is chipping. It comes with a 14 inch rally II with a dry rotted Goodyear as a spare. THE REST: I have only put around 7,000 miles on the car in the 19 years I have owned it. The cuurent mileage shows 64,020. I have no idea if it is original or it has 164,000-264,000 or 364,000. I have never driven the car more than 50 miles at a time. It also has a new battery. This vehicle is 42 years old . I have tried to describe the car's faults. It is not perfect nor a show car but it is a GREAT driver. It is the bidders responsibility to come and inspect this car before bidding. The car is located in Birmingham Alabama. Rather than making a potentially incorrect assumption, if any part of my description is unclear, or if you have any questions, please e-mail me or call me before bidding.-Scott 205-757-7880. I reserve the right to end the auction early due to the vehicle being for sale locally. Please do not waste mine or your time by bidding unless you have secured the funds and intend to buy. I wll not release the vehicle until all funds for purchase have cleared. PAYMENT & SHIPPING: A $500.00 non-refudable deposit must be made via Pay pal within 24 hours of auctions end. The balance is due within 7 days of auctions end. The new owner is responsible for all shipping arrangements and cost associated with shipping. On Mar-26-11 at 07:07:01 PDT, seller added the following information:The Tennessee title I have in hand was signed by the seller on the back. The buyers section is blank. That is because the guy that bought it was from Alabama. Alabama does not issue titles on vehicles made before 1978. The guy just needed a bill of sale to register the car in Alabama and get a tag. When I bought the car in 1992, The guy gave me the Tennessee title and a bill of sale. Since I also live in Alabama, I just used the bill of sale to register the car in my name and get the tag. I would assume that the new buyer could sign the back of the title in the buyers section and get a title in their state. I will include a bill of sale from me to the new buyer. I am not familiar with the requirements of every states DMV, thats why I stated that the new buyer needs to find out what is required to get a title in their state. I hope this clears up any confusion. If not, please give me a call. I took the car out for a short drive this morning and noticed that there were a few drops of oil on my garage floor.
