Up for auction is a 1960 Mercurey Monterey 2 door hardtop!!!! These are EXTREMELY hard to find these days!!!! The 2 doors are EXTREMELY rare, and sought after! I am re-listing this due to a winging bidder with no money!!!!! If you don't have money, don't bid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also reserve the right to end the auction early, this is for sale locally as well! The VIN says that the motor in this is a 383ci, it looks to be correct. The odometer says 55901, but I'm pretty sure that it's a roll over. The car needs to be gone through mechanically. When I opened the hood, the valve covers where off, looked like someone took them off to paint them, along with the air cleaner. They are just sitting on the motor, so you need the valve cover hardware and gaskets, and yes there was oil in it while it was stored... I got the motor turning over, but the cam is flat. The brakes need to be relined. So be aware that you are looking at the whole nine, motor, trans (most likely), brakes, interior. Believe me I would LOVE to keep this, unfortunately I need what money I have for a bus project I am working on. If I had the funds to do everything correctly, it wouldn't be much of a problem to knock this out in a month, not counting for paint. Oh, I also want to mention, that whatever jackass owned this before me decided to lower the rear leaf-springs with a torch.... so those need to be popped on as well (you can still get them at NAPA). Front windshield has a crack as well, I found several new in Texas. Now for the good!!!The body on this thing is PERFECT! NO RUST!!!! EVERYTHING IS SOLID!!!! one dent on the passenger rocker, and a dent in the rear bumper (which would take all of 5 min to knock out) that is it. This is one of the best starters for a project that I have seen. All I wanted to do with this was get it running and stopping, and leave the exterior alone, and have a sweet sled. Hot, hotrod, rod, sled, kustom, custom, Rat, ratrod, project, chopped, bagged, slammed, dropped Also, this car comes with California Lien Sale paper work, so check your state DMV about getting the new title.
