Vehicle Detail

This is a 1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA. It has the 5.7 L TPI motor with a 5 Speed Manual Transmission. This car runs great and is VERY fast. Fully loaded with optional digital dash. It has the bigger corvette sourced L98 5.7L V8 with the WS6 performance package which include bigger sway bars and four wheel disc brakes as standard. This was a daily driver up until about a year ago and is very dependable. I have a clear Title for it. It’s been sitting in my shop and I need the space. I’ve had it for ten years or so. I painted it about three years ago because the clear coat was coming off. I replaced the wing on the back with a new fiberglass wing at that time. The paint still shines but it has its share of nicks around the car in different places. The worse spot is on the passenger side door that got hit by flying debris from a lawnmower about two years ago. Not long after I painted it, I got rear-ended. It put a light buckle in the left rear quarter panel that can be seen in the photos and messed up the rear rubber bumper. I didn’t think the quarter panel was worth repairing so I got a replacement rubber bumper, painted it and installed it. I still have the left over paint and clear coat (as seen in one of the photos) from that repair that is still good if you want it. I keep it in the refrigerator in my shop. I’ve done all of the maintenance on this car myself since I’ve owned it. Mechanically, it is a sound car though it sometimes smokes when you start it up. This is typical of valve seals that need to be replaced. I just don’t feel like changing them. The dash cover has cracks. The air conditioning system won’t hold a charge for more than a month and I converted over to the newer R134 refrigerant. I put a new fuel pump in the fuel tank about two years ago. The transmission was originally an automatic and when it went out a few years ago I converted it to a five speed standard shift. The tires have plenty of tread left. I replace them about four years ago. The rear hatchback window frame has light rust on it as can be seen in the photos. Just needs light sanding and repainted black. The radio has an anti theft feature built into it that disables it when the radio is removed for any reason. As can be seen in the photos, it says “Loc” on the radio display. I think that means “LOCKED” When I put it back in during the trany swap, it wouldn’t work after that. Some digits on the digital dash don’t illuminate correctly. They worked fine when I stopped driving it a year ago so I think it may be from none use. I put a new battery and alternator in it to put on Ebay. I can’t think of anything else so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. This is a no reserve auction so the high bidder owns it. I live in Pensacola Fl. And I cannot ship this car though it can be driven anywhere so bid accordingly. I would consider trade for a hovercraft, even a project hovercraft if you have one.On Mar-07-11 at 08:28:11 PST, seller added the following information: This GTA has 166000 miles on it not 186000 miles. As I listed above, some digits on the digital dash don’t illuminate correctly and I mis-read the miles on it. What I originally thought was an eight is really a six in the second digit. When I tapped on the dash a few times with it running, it read correctly. I ended the auction and re-listed it once already because I mis-read the milage and Ebay wouldn't let me change it. I'm sure I have it right this time.
