. I am listing this for a friend and customer. He decided he did not have time to get the items in need of repair completed due to working at a great distance from home. The car is currently registered. I am a mechanic and body man. The below remarks are my assessment of the car: 1. The car needs to be painted. The current paint appears to be the original. There are a few door dings, a relatively minor ripple in the roof from a basket ball or similar impact, the door glass window seal trim needs cleaned up and painted. We were going to paint it for him for $700 labor plus about $200 in urethane paint and materials. The wheels also need to be painted. The right mirror glass is cracked. 2. The interior is in pretty good condition, need corrections on the glove box lock. The wheel is leather and has chaffing, but is other wise intact with no tears. All the glass looks pretty good. The dash has issues where the defroster vents point at the glass due to warping of the dash material. This is something that could be repaired. The seats look pretty good. The carpet needs cleaning, simple enough I guess. 3. I have driven the car around where I live, it seems to run well, and if needed, one could easily do a cross country trip. However, we have opened the blow off valve to keep it from boosting as one of the turbos smokes and needs a rebuild. My estimate for rebuilding the turbos is about $160 each plus labor to remove and reinstall them. I would charge $250 labor. The engine feels strong and appears to have been serviced well enough. But the buyer should do the regular tune up items. All of the running gear seems to be in good condition; trans, brakes, steering, etc. The check engine light is on, as well the airbag and ABS lights. I am a Porsche enthusiast, so my familiarity with these cars is not tops. My experience with the check engine lights on cars of this era is that it could easily be spark plugs causing it. There are dedicated 3000gt forums where you can find solutions to every issue regarding the electronics of the car. 174000 miles The salvage title is likely due to the car having been leased, and then delivered over to the insurance company for repair, after the last lease period ended, and it was determined that cost to repair through the normal insurance repair channels was too great. Hence, it was resold as a salvage.
