Vehicle Detail

This is a classic 1973 Mercedes Benz 280 SEL 4.5L survivor with its original 108,300 miles. This car was the cutting edge of technology in 1973 having Mercedes Benz's revolutionary new 4.5L M117 V-8 engine with Over Head Cams with two valves per cylinder and fuel saving fuel injection. The Mercedes Benz 280SEL was a 1971-1972 model car. This particular car, among few others was titled by Mercedes as a 1973. This car has been very well taken care of and garage kept most of its life. It is in fantastic condition for a car almost forty years old. The original paint is a beautiful rich burgandy. It maintains a really nice shine but is beginning to show its age. The trunk, top, and hood are beginning to fade. The hood has spider lines in the paint as well as chipping in the front around the headlights. The exterior chrome is in great condtion. The trunk compartment is in great shape. The original rubber mat is beginning to crack and is a bit brittle. The original Mercedes Benz tool kit is in the trunk and believed to be complete as well as an ancient (but in great condtion) Michelin spare tire. The interior of the car is in remarkable condtion. The dashboard has no cracks. None of the seats, carpet, or door panels have any significant defects. The dashboard wood grain is in great shape with a bit of sun wear at the glove box. All of the power windows and door locks work well. The clock does not work. The car starts right up and runs like a sewing machine. The engine has a tremendous amount of power and shifts smoothly. It really handles itself very well on the road. I recently had the air conditioning serviced and converted. The issue with the A/C was a bad blower switch on the dashboard. My local Mercedes certified mechanic could not find a new replacement and had to install a used switch. It worked perfectly all summer but is now coming on and off sporadically. I have not had time to search for a new switch. This car has been a garaged car with little use especially over the last 6-8 years. I recently have been driving it a few times a week for the last 6 months. During this time I have been working on giving the car some of the attention it deserves. These are the items I have done to the car within the last six months: ($ 3,367.00) Brand New 50,000 mile Cooper Touring tires Complete brake job, two new calipers New Wipers New Fuses Complete Tune Up Adjusted Valves Replaced Steering Linkage Replaced Right Tie Rod Replaced Exhaust Hangers Rebuilt Throttle Linkage Convert A/C to 134 Replaced Blower Switch (currently malfunctioning) New Interstate Battery
