Vehicle Detail
RX-7 Fans -- This is a bone stock, all original, 1984 RX-7 GSL-SE. I'm talking original interior, original paint, everything except tires. Like all GSL-SEs this car features the larger more powerful fuel injected 13B engine, which runs perfectly. Step on the gas, and this car hauls a$$. It's sitting on nearly new (less than 3000 miles) Sumitomo HTR 200 tires that stick you to the road during a turn, and are perfectly balanced for a smooth ride when you're on the highway. Your left hand sticks to the leather wrapped steering wheel while your other hand smoothly moves through the five gears. You sit firmly but comfortably in the red leather seats as you navigate your way down the road listening to the original AM/FM/Cassette with Equalizer. In short, this car is immensely fun to drive. It has 65,741 original miles on it - that's 2,435 miles per year. I drive it to work, once or twice a week. It's never been driven in any kind of water: rain or snow. In fact, the only water this car has seen is the car wash. That said, feel confident there's not a speck of rust on the car either on top or underneath. I put the car away in November and it doesn't come out again until late April when all of the salt has been removed from the roads during the previous winter's nastiness. The car has been meticulously serviced with Castrol GTX oil every 2,000 miles. That's right, I said 2,000. It's never had synthetic oil it it, so there's no worry of build up on the seals inside this rotary-powered rocket. The manual transmission and rear end are serviced with Royal Purple oil (the best there is) to ensure a smooth shift and a quiet ride. I've owned the car for three years and during that time I've replaced the following items: front struts and inserts (high-end KYB brand), rear shocks (again, KYB), tires (Sumitomo), fuel system pressure regulator (the original Mazda version was known to fail, so I replaced it), air filter (once per year), and brake pads. The car comes with the original silver removable roof as well as the all glass roof shown in the photos. It also comes with a black LeBra that completely covers the nose and retractable lights, as well as an original Mazda car cover for when you put her to bed at night. There are some cosmetic things you need to know about the car. First, the driver's seat lower outside bolster is showing some wear. I've taken a specific photo of that area. The seat can be repaired quite easily by recovering or replacing (four bolts take it completely out). Occasionally you'll see an original red leather seat here on eBay. Also, there's a very small dent near the driver's windshield wiper caused by me dropping a wrench there. I've taken a specific photo of that area as well, though it's difficult to see. I've had the car to Dent Doctor who indicate the dent can be rolled out without any issues for about $80. If you don't buy the car now, I'll have the area repaired when the warmer weather returns. Other than that, this car's a peach. Feel confident that you can drive this car anywhere in America after you purchase her, or have it shipped. There's a reasonable reserve on the car. Like most auctions here on eBay, there's a $500 payment due after the auction if you're the successful high bidder. If you arrive here to examine the car, and find that the car isn't as advertised, I'll give you the $500 back. I've done my best to completely describe the vehicle, but again, you don't like it, you get your cash back. It's that simple. Keep in mind, the car is 27 years old, and I do drive it. So it's not show quality, but that doesn't stop people from coming up to me all the time to say, "Wow, it's been a long time since I've seen one of these." So, bid in confidence. Feel free to email your questions. Better that we talk about it beforehand. I don't want you to have any surprises when you get here. On Feb-27-11 at 04:49:51 PST, seller added the following information: Update: Today I got a message from a bidder who noticed a dimple in the bumper above the exhaust pipes. So I thought it best to mention it here. This area is a symmetrical dimple in the flexible plastic that covers the rear bumper. It's been there for as long as I've had the car, and I presumed, based on its appearance, that Mazda put it there. Either way, it's clearly visible in the photo, so please take a look. On Feb-27-11 at 06:10:58 PST, seller added the following information: Update #2: The note I received from that bidder caused me to decide to take a another look - a detailed look - at the car for anything that I overlooked. So for the sake of complete disclosure I want you to be aware that the flexible plastic on the top of the front bumper has some light paint oxidation. You can see it in the 9th and 10th photos, particularly in front of the passenger head light. I apologize for the multiple updates, but I just don't want you to be negatively surprised. On Feb-28-11 at 18:20:13 PST, seller added the following information: Update #3: A bidder asked today if the electronics work. The answer is yes. Everything electrical and electronic works. This includes the sound system, fan, dashboard lights, radio antenna (which raises and lowers), air conditioning, heat, electric windows, electric mirrors, front and rear wipers...everything. Keep those questions coming! I'm happy to post the responses here.
