Vehicle Detail
If you're looking for a 4th generation 4Runner, and are looking at a V6, do yourself a favor and check out a V8 first. It's twice the truck, and the difference in MPG between it and the V6 is negligible. With the V8 of this vintage, you get a 5-speed auto transmission as opposed to a 4-speed auto with the V6, hence the slight difference in mileage between the two. You also get full time 4WD, not part time. With the V8 4Runner, you basically get the drive train of a $60,000 Land Cruiser or a $50,000 Lexus GS470 at half or two-thirds the price. The V8 is also ideally suited to towing, so it's perfect for a boat or other toy. It was the best deal going in the day, and it's still a great deal today. As I mentioned, the V8 4Runner has permanent 4x4, just like its bigger brothers the Land Cruiser and the GX470. It is a world of difference to drive in a snow storm like the one we had a few weeks ago and not have to do anything. It's always in 4WD, and between that and the traction and stability control systems, the vehicle just goes. Period. Nothing stops it. For off-road use, it also has the low-range 4WD and the locking center differential for a 50/50 front/rear torque split. The V8 gives it spirited performance for a truck, and is rated to tow up to 7000 lbs. At reasonable speeds, on reasonable roads with the cruise control set, the truck regularly gets around 19-21 MPG on the freeway, which is pretty good for a V8 powered full time 4WD SUV. Many V6 owners report around 20-23 mpg on the highway. All around, you can't ask for much more from a vehicle. And with only 166,700 miles on the odometer, you'll have the pleasure of owning this vehicle just as it's getting broken in. Technical Specs: 166XXX miles 2UZ-FE 4.7 Liter V8 engine (Same engine found in the Land Cruiser, Tundra, Sequoia, Lexus LX470 and GS470) 5-Speed Automatic Transmission (again, same trans as the other vehicles that share this engine) PERMANENT 4WD with locking center Torsen III differential, 4-Channel ABS ATRAC traction control VSC (vehicle stability control) Hill Descent Control Hill Hold (automatically prevents truck from rolling backward on a steep hill, even with your foot off the brake) Towing package Interior: Front Airbags (Driver and passenger) Auto Seatbelt tensioners SR5 Package Beige Cloth Interior Power Windows Power Door locks AC with Automatic Temperature Control Power Lumbar adjustment on seat (all other seat adjustments are manual) Power Mirrors on both sides Auto-Dimming rear-view mirror with compass AM/FM/CD/Cassette Player (Stock) Sliding and tilting tinted glass moon roof Factory tinted (black) windows Power tailgate Window (rolls up and down) with defrost 60/40 folding rear seat (lays flat) Exterior: Black with gray trim Factory Alloy Rims, 17" 18 month old Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO tires. Timing belt, tensioners, idlers and water pump replaced at 101K miles as part of routine maintenance. Timing belt good till 201,000 miles. Tuneup at 101,000 miles with original Nippondenso Iridium sparkplugs, good till 201,000 miles. Engine has always had Mobil1 fully synthetic oil, genuine Toyota filters, replaced on recommended schedule. Center, front and rear diffs always had Mobil1 Synthetic Gear oil. Transmission and power steering pump has always had full synthetic Toyota Type T auto trans fluid. All parts used in maintenance were OEM Toyota parts. New front brake calipers installed at 130,000 miles. Pads on all four wheels were done at the same time. Brake Fluid flushed every two years. Front drive shaft yoke and slip joint greased at same interval as oil changes. Power steering fluid was flushed every 50,000 miles and replaced with genuine Toyota Type T. Coolant flushed at same time as timing belt job, replaced only with Toyota pink low phosphorous/low silicate coolant (coolant good until next timing belt replacement) This vehicle is exceptionally well cared for. It has never been in an accident, not even a minor fender bender. Spare tire is missing. On the outside, the paint is good. There are a few small dings from shopping carts and the like. There is one area on the rear lift gate where the clear coat has perforated, but the paint underneath is intact. On a couple of the alloy rims, there are a few small areas (a couple square centimeters in area) where the clear coating over the alloy has bubbled, but the wheels are sound. Overall, when clean, I'd give it a 8.5/10 in appearance, which is about on par for a truck with this many miles. On the interior, there is a small tear (less than 1 inch) in the driver's seat, from getting in and out all these years. Overall, you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer 4Runner at a better price. More photos available upon request. Title is a clean, lien-free title, no salvage, no flood, etc. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Balance due upon pickup of vehicle in Saint Louis, MO via certified check, bank transfer, or cash.
