Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a black/tan 1995 Supra that started life as a 6 speed twin turbo car, and has come a long way. When I bought the car it still had the original 6 speed transmission in it that it came with from the factory, and as much fun as a manual transmission is, it was not worth it to me to keep it in there. The HKS triple disc clutch that was in the car made the car such a pain in the a$$ to drive, it wasn’t very practical. That was one of the only clutches available at the time that would handle the 819 rear wheel horsepower the car was making, but it was not very fun to drive around the city. So, at that time I felt the car needed a built automatic transmission to make it more streetable. I did some research on the factory Toyota transmissions that could be built to withstand big power, but at the time, I didn't feel any of the transmissions available were sufficient enough for the power the car was making. I wanted the best I could get. That is when the GM TH400 transmission swap began. The car made plenty of power when I bought it, but it was making all that power on factory engine internals. I had the engine built, and with that said I will just list all the modifications the car has...hopefully I won't forget anything! Engine: -The block I had built only had 6,000 miles on it before the build - Built by Performance Motorsports in Kansas - Balanced and blue printed - JE pistons (.20 over) with Calico Coating Teflon coating on the side skirts, ceramic thermal barrier coating on the top, and nitrate coating in the ringlands - Clevite rod and main bearings with Calico Coatings dry film lubricating coating - Eagle rods - ARP rod bolts - ARP main studs - ARP head studs - Stage 3 ported and polished head (brand new from Toyota before the port and polish)with Ferrea +1mm titanium intake valves and inconel exhaust valves - Crower Valve Springs Transmission: - Fully built TH400 with Sound Performance conversion kit - Reverse Manual Valve body - Precision Industries 4800 RPM Lock-up Torque Converter - Deep Pan for cooling, and capacity - B&M Quicksilver shifter - B&M Transmission Cooler Rear End: - Factory rear end from an automatic transmission TT car - Factory drivers side axle from an automatic transmission TT car Turbo, Exhaust, etc..: - Precision Turbo PT74 turbocharger with .81 A/R exhaust housing - HKS GT 60 mm wastegate - TIAL 50 mm blow off valve - HKS Header with Ceramic coating - Custom 3" Downpipe with Ceramic coating - ATR 3" Stainless Steel catback system Fuel System: - 1000cc Precision Turbo Fuel Injectors - Garage Advanced Fuel rail - Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump (mounted in tank) - Aeromotive Pro billet boost compensated fuel pressure regulator - Aeromotive voltage regulator - -10 Fuel lines Ignition: - MSD DIS 2 ignition box - MSD DIS 4 ignition box - MSD tachometer adapters - New Toyota coils - NGK plugs Electronics: - HKS VPC - HKS GCC - APEXi AVC R electronic boost controller - Greddy turbo timer - Autometer Ultralite EGT gauge - Autometer Ultralite boost gauge - Autometer Ultralite fuel pressure gauge - Dakota Digital speedometer controller - Optima battery mounted in the hatch area Computer: - G-Force ECU with modified chips - 9000 RPM Rev limit - No boost cut - No load cut - Traction Control fully disabled with trac off button turned off - Ignition Chip is stock full load and more timing under spool to 4400 rpm Intake/Cooling: - Greddy 3 row intercooler - Fluidyne Radiator - Custom air intake with K&N filter Suspension/Brakes: - Factory Springs - KYB adjustable struts in front - Powerslot Brake rotors - Factory Calipers painted black - Hawk Performance brake pads Wheels/Tires: - Blitz Type 03, 3 piece wheels (silver with polished lip) 18x9 in front and 18x10 in the rear - Nitto NT555 ZR 245/40/18 in front, BFG Drag Radials 275/35/18 in rear Exterior: - Factory Headlights and side markers from a 1998 Supra - Emblems shaved - 20% Window tint Interior: - Newer factory black carpet - Tan seats from the factory Stereo: - Pioneer CD player - JL Audio 10 W0 Subwoofer - PPI Amplifier Misc: - NOS wet nitrous kit (used on the dyno once, and never on the street) - 10lb bottle with bottle heater The built engine and transmission have around 2,000 miles on them, and the car has 94,1xx miles. After the engine was installed, I had the car tuned for 91 octane until I broke the engine in a little bit. I wanted it to be safe, so the boost was set at 15-16 psi. I put the car on the dyno with that tune, and it put down 491 RWHP. After I put some miles on the car, I wanted to see what it could do with some C-16 race fuel and the boost turned up. The boost was set at 34-35 psi, and I put some C16 in it and had it tuned and dynoed. After the car was completely tuned it put down 741.83 RWHP, and 633.97 RWTQ. These are very good numbers taking into consideration the modifications the car has and the drivetrain loss going through a TH400 transmission. We probably could have pushed it a little more to squeeze some power out of it, but I was extremely happy with the numbers. As I mentioned above, the car had a nitrous system already installed by the previous owner, so I decided to see what kind of numbers the car could put down with a small shot . I put jets in the kit for about a 60 horsepower shot of nitrous, and we put it back on the dyno. With the everything the same except a small shot of nitrous, the car put down 810.94 RWHP and 694.89 RWTQ. I was pretty happy with those numbers, and didn't see any reason to push it that day. There are a few more modifications I wanted to do to the car over the years to make the car even more powerful, but I never had the time or the money to spend on it. It has such a strong foundation, its a shame that I couldn't afford to get the car to it's fullest potential. I couldn't even imagine the power the car would make with some camshafts, larger exhaust, boost turned up even higher, etc. If someone wanted to change the car back to a manual transmission, it would not be hard at all. I did not have to modify the body/chassis in any way to do the TH400 swap, so if that is something that you have in mind now or in the future, it would not be a big deal. I tried to list everything I can think of, but if I missed something or if you have any questions about the car, please don't hesitate to ask. Someone is going to be very happy with this car! I have a ton of money invested in it, and I realize I am going to take a HUGE loss, but I would appreciate no low ball offers. I will also consider interesting trades for the car. E-mail me if you have any questions. Thanks and happy bidding.
