*** NOTE*** Relisted twice because there is some kind of automated ID clicking the Buy It Now within a minute of the auction listing. The accounts are bogus. I worked with eBay to add some account protections against this so hopefully, this time, the listing will stay active. Up for sale is a 1993 Volvo 850 GLT that I bought as a project to work on with my son before he turns 16. Shortly after purchasing it, we found another project car that is more to his liking. This car is in immaculate shape for it's age. NO, I repeat, NO body damage, dings or scratches of any significance. The interior leather is completely intact with the exception of the driver's seat bolster. All electronics work. This car snapped the timing belt. The head has been taken off and completely reconditioned with all new valves, seals and guides. The head is back on the engine but the timing is not right. When manually turning the engine, it binds at the number 3 cylinder even though I started with all the marks lined up. I think that I might have the cam sprocket on the cam incorrectly. I am not sure but my plan was to try to finish it up over the Holidays but I was just too busy. So, if the car sells for low reserve in the auction, it's gone. Otherwise, when I get home again next weekend, I'll probably pull the valve cover back off and try to figure it out. Here's the Pluses:1) Gorgeous body and paint (in the pics the car has some scale on it from sitting outside and it's too cold to wash it just for a couple of pictures but it's plenty shiny). 2) Excellent Interior3) Four almost brand new Goodyear Eagle Aqua Tires on 4 straight factory rims with no road rash4) I have the Volvo Factory Service Manuals with updates for Engine and Engine Reconditioning5) All parts are there for reassembly with the exception of the following: - Someone cut the catalytic converter off and stole it while it sat a shop that was diagnosing the original engine problem - Head came back from the shop without the intake manifold studs. I just noticed that I don't have them so a set would have to be ordered Challenges1) The car sat for awhile so the rotors are have surface rust. The may clean up simply by driving a bit. 2) For the same reason, the fuel is probably bad. Could be drained or possibly just mixed with fresh fuel.3) Need to have an exhaust shop install an aftermarket cat.4) You need to know how to get the timing right on this engine. I travel a lot so I am not able to show the car during the week. If you are local and want to see it before auction end, you can stop by on Saturday AM. With a little more time and effort, this car could be a really nice car for someone and it's still got a lot of life left in it. If you part Volvos, this is an excellent car to part out as all the panels are straight, wheels and tires are worth good money and all of the electronics work. I've got a fresh BMW project in the garage to work on with my son so I don't want to part it out. Besides, it would really be a shame to do that anyway. *** NOTE *** If you have zero feedback, you cannot bid. Sorry. too many hassles with bogus accounts. Feel free to drop questions through eBay but I think that I've put as much info out as I can. On Jan-11-11 at 05:22:55 PST, seller added the following information: *** Additional Notes *** 1) Sorry about the missing pictures. I thought that when you relist an item, everything is the same. Somehow, there were no pics and I didn't check.2) I have figured out the timing issue. The exhaust cam sprocket is on with 3 bolts. It mounts in any position to the cam. Somehow, when I changed the cam seals, I had the sprocket off by one rotation. This is an easy fix. I am heading for the airport today so I cannot fix it and check for complete, unbinding rotation before auction close. If the car doesn't sell this time, then I am going to fix it next weekend.3) Lowered the reserve.
