Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a clean 1996 Mustang Cobra. I would first like to state that I am not a teenager that had bought a fast car, beat on it, then trying to sell it. I am 40 years old, the second owner, and have owned it for about 5 years. Secondly, the car was involved in a slight accident by the original owner. It was hit on the front passenger side, and the air bags "did" deploy. I said 'slight', because I did not feel the damage was that bad. I bought the car un-repaired. The original owner had decided to keep the insurance check and sell the car. I bought it and had it repaired for $2700 (I have the receipt for the repairs). That price included replacing the bumper cover, the passenger fender, head light, prep/install/painting the Cervini Stalker hood and Saleen spoiler (I still have the original undamaged Cobra hood), and painting the rear bumper (there was no damage to the rear bumper, but it looked like the original owner was spinning in gravel and paint flaked off underneath it). I wanted to state that up front just in case that is a "deal-breaker" for some people. This Cobra has 33K original miles, and less than 5K miles on the built motor. It was dyno'd at 651 rwhp & 524 rwtq on 93 octane gas and 19 lbs. of boost. For those who were not paying attention to the previous sentence, 651 rwhp was achieved "without" the aid of race gas, nitrous oxide, or methanol injection. The head work and tuning was performed by ModularPowerHouse. The bottom end was built by Shankenstein Racing ("They Build Monsters"). I will not try to list everything that was done to the car, because there is plenty, but I will list enough that you will get a good idea. Any additional information that you may want to know, just ask: Motor: Stock block w/Manley 9.1:1 pistons, H-beam rods, Comp Cams (XE-R Supercharger/Nitrous), BeeHive valve springs, Special Accufab throttle body (flows 1696 cfm which is an aditional 607 cfm over stock), Vortech T-trim Supercharger w/ 8 rib conversion, Air to air intercooler, Fluidyne radiator Exhaust: Watson s/s Long-tube headers and H-pipes (the highest HP rated combo for 4-valves, 40 series Flowmasters w/ turndowns. Fuel: 83 lbs. injectors, internal/external fuel pump, upgraded braided fuel line, Kenne Bell boost-a-pump, F.A.S.T XFI fuel management. Drivetrain: Stock T-45 transmission (shifts perfect), Fidanza aluminum flywheel, Stage 4 Competition Clutch, Aluminum driveshaft, 31-spline, TruTrac differential w/ 4:10 gears. Suspension: UPR Tubular K Member, UPR Pro Series front coil over kit w/ springs, billet caster camber plates, Pro Series (rear) upper control arms, spherical bushings, Mega Bite Jrs., Steeda Heavy-duty rear sway bar, Sub-frame connectors. Wheels/Tires: Konig Beyond 18X9.5, Toyo Proxy 275/35/18 front, Nitto Drag Radial 305/35/18 rear Again, this is not everything, but it should be enough to let you know that this Cobra will flat-out-fly. I have NOT taken it to the track. I just cruise the streets and turn heads. This will definitely be one of the meanest sounding rides at your local cruise-in. A few non critical issues that should be mentioned are: (1) The A/C is still intact, and was working before the F.A.S.T. unit was installed. The a/c is controlled through the factory computer, so it now needs to be wired through the F.A.S.T unit. (2) The wipers are not working. I am not sure why, but they were not working when i bought the car and since I never drive it in the rain I never checked into it. It may just be the wiper switch. (3) The AirBag light stays on. When I had the car repaired, the body shop talked me into installing padded airbags, stating that the airbag systems were too sensitive and are easily deployed. What??? exactly what I was thinking, but I went with it. After they installed them, I thought that they looked cheesy, so I bought a functional Cobra set on ebay, installed them, and the light has been on every since. (4) This Cobra had an 8 point roll cage in it, which I was not fond of, so I converted it into a 4 point cage (or street cage). Now there are 4 holes in the carpet from where the roll bars use to come up through the floor. It does not really stand out because of the floor mats. (5) The center console (the arm rest part) does not sit flush because 2 of the clips on it had broke off. This may have been a long drawn out description, but I figured that any SERIOUS buyer would want to know everything they could about a car before buying it. Some sellers choose to omit details and then chalk it up to (1) Buying a used car (2) I forgot to mention (3) I did not think it was important If you are serious about buying a really fast car, then this is it. Even if you "already" had a clean Cobra in your garage, you could not duplicate what I have just under the hood for my Buy-It-Now price. I must add that this Cobra is far from stock, so do not expect it to drive like a stocker. It has good street manners considering all the work that went into it, but it is a 650 hp car. This auction is for """SERIOUS""" buyers only!!! Please have funds readily available before bidding. In addition to that, clear the purchase first through your parents, wife, priest, 3rd grade teacher, or who ever gives the final say-so before you bid. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours at the close of the auction. Full payment due within 1 week. Thanks for looking.
