Vehicle Detail
This is a 1967 Dodge Dart GT Convertible that has been modified. This car now comes with a 340 engine and 727 Torqueflite transmission coupled with a Hurst on the floor shifter. The rear unit is an 8-3/4 posi with a 3:91 gear set. The housing was a MOPAR unit modified to fit this car by Moser Engineering as well as the axel shafts. The springs have been replaced too. The front end has been rebuilt. The brakes have been updated utilizing the large 11 inch discs up front and large 10-1/2 inch drums on the rear. Obviously this improves braking, but it also allows the use of superior wheels (large bolt pattern). The header and exhaust system are ceramic coated from TTI. The engine and transmission are out of a 1973 Road Runner that had 78,000 miles. They have both been completely rebuilt. The engine piston bores are now .30 over and new lightweight JE SRP forged aluminum pistons were used, thereby reducing the rotating weight. The piston bores were honed for Moly rings. The engines rotating mass was balanced prior to final installation. The camshaft is from Competition Cams and they were consulted prior to ordering a performance street cam (XE262H-10). New rocker arms and shafts were used. The heads are stock other than a good three way valve job. The carburetor is a Carter Thermoquad unit originally used on an International Harvester for a slightly higher flow rate of 800 cfm. Note: everything in the engine is new except for the crank, rods and heads. New rod bolts were installed too. A new high torque starter was installed. A new matching 340 type radiator was installed. The chunk was purchased from Mancini Racing Inc. It’s a 489 unit. The driveshaft was matched and balanced by a local professional shop. Unfortunately, the rear end unit (chunk) needs to be rebuilt. While the car can be driven you can tell the bearings are too loud; probably from sitting up too long and not being driven. The gas tank was replaced with a new unit as was the ground strap, pickup and sending unit. The gas gauge does not work and the defect is probably in the instrument panel side. The horn does not work. As you can see from the photos taken on 2-12-2011 the original trim was retained. The front turn signals are not on the car, but see the pictures. They are in really good shape. I bought them on the internet and never mounted them. One of them looks to be new old stock and the other, good used OEM. I know what I paid for them and the time it took to find them to complete the trim. I wanted them because of their coolness. Also, I couldn’t bring myself to remove the trim package since it was a special order option for the car. Yes, the car probably would look better without the trim? Now on the paint, the car looks okay, but it is one of those ten foot paint jobs with imperfections. The front hood trim and DODGE letters are missing. The hood is not very good since it was exposed to the elements for some time in the wrong position. The car on the other-hand is very solid and is a survivor for sure. The car’s underneath is very solid, but very dirty as you can see. This car is not a rust bucket. The shocks are worn out and need to be replaced. The front torsion bar is stock and should be replaced with a beefier unit. I did not drive the car on the edge so it did not matter. Speaking of driving, the car pretty much sat in my garage for the last ten years. I would drive it some just to keep it running, but I never finished the car. The power top works fine. The top was replaced several years ago and appears to be fine. The interior front seat was reupholstered, but the back seat is original. The carpet is brown from years of exposure to the sun. It needs to be replaced. The dash is in good shape. The interior windshield top trim piece is not in great shape but I believe it can be salvaged? The bottom piece of the exterior window is missing and hard to find. I know people are using some aftermarket replacement trim for this since I don’t think anybody makes an original? The windshield is original and has some slight fog. The windows crank up and down just fine. The passenger side rear window is missing the knob part of the crank. This is a nice old hot rod that can be finished and enjoyed depending on the level you want. Just keep in mind that the car is 44 years old and has never been “restored”, instead it has been modified. Having said that, my reserve is very low and somebody will wind up with a great deal on an old drop top with a 340 drive train. The reserve is LOW because the car is NOT being sold as a daily driver, but a car that needs work and repair. Yes, it always starts and drives. BUT, if you don’t have the will or ability to turn a wrench then you probably should not make an offer for this car. Don’t get in over your head; it’s an old car, okay. When I put the car up the last time it was running fine, now it is running a little rough. I drained most of the old gas and added some high test and that helped, it’s smoothing out the more I drive it. The car has not experienced Ethanol and I use stabilizer. To be paid in full within 5 days of auctions end by cash (in person) or bank transfer Or Cashier's Check (certified from US or Canadian bank) or money order Please do not ask what the reserve is as it will not be revealed to be fair to other potential bidders/buyers. Please do not bid unless you are serious. This is not an opportunity for you to come by and decide. You are entering into a contract and need to be comfortable and knowledgeable of that fact. If you are a serious buyer then enter a serious bid or offer. The vehicle will not be released until funds have cleared. Sold as is with no warranty. ***Seller reserves the right to end the auction early. For serious buyers, a BIN price can be added at any time. I will help with your transportation arrangements as much as possible on a case by case basis, but the buyer is responsible for this transfer. Thank you.
