1998 Dodge Ram SS/T 29,800 miles!!! I am selling my prized possession. I am the original owner of a rare limited edition (1 of 2500) Dodge Ram SS/T with 29,000 miles. I ordered the truck directly from the factory when I was a Mopar mechanic in the Chicagoland area back in the fall of 1997. It has never been my daily driver and was stored during the Chicago winters. From 2003 on I have lived in Arizona and the truck still rarely leaves the garage. When I was young I wanted to be the owner of unique Sunday driver that was destined to become a classic and envisioned passing this vehicle on as a family heirloom. One day while I was working at a Dodge dealership I saw a transport arrive with a black SS/T on the top rack. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. I dropped what I was doing and ran out to the transport to witness it being unloaded. The transport driver started it up and I got chills down my spine when I heard the powerful sound of the throaty factory exhaust. That same week I ordered one of my own. Within 3 years I was married and started a family. Since then the truck has been driven less and less due to the fact that the 5 of us can’t fit in it. I have been fighting the reality of having to sell it off for years, but now that my kids are growing and we have to replace our family sedan with a larger vehicle, I can’t with a heavy heart justify having the truck sit there undriven while paying to license and insure it. The SS/T was a unique factory street version of the Dodge Ram offered in limited quantities in 1997 and 1998. The SS/T package included a specially tuned 5.9 liter 360 cubic inch V8 engine, throaty exhaust modifications, racing stripes, colored bumpers and grille, fog lights and 5 spoke 17” aluminum wheels. This practically new emerald green with silver stripes SS/T is all original without any modifications done to the engine or drivetrain. The only things added were a class 3 trailer hitch, factory bedliner, tinted windows and factory ground effects. The oil was changed every 2500 miles using synthetic oil. The other fluids (transmission, coolant, rear differential) were changed every 2 years regardless of low mileage. It receives a yearly professional detail with hand wax. As you can see it has a finish as beautiful as the day I received it. I would have to believe that of the small amount made this is probably the lowest mileage and best kept SS/T in existence. The only flaws that I never got around to fixing (pictures included) are a few minor scratches and slight dent on the top of the tailgate and minor scratches on top of the rear bumper when my son stepped on it.
