Vehicle Detail

One of a kind!!! 1956 Ford F-100 "Rat Rod" with a 5.9L 12 valve Cummins Turbo Diesel!!! If you are in the market for a wonderful hot rod / rat rod that you can drive anywhere in the country and get good fuel economy then you have found the truck for you! I have a 1956 Ford F-100 "Rat Rod". The cab is sitting on a full 1992 Dodge Ram 3500 chassis. The drivetrain consist of the powerful 5.9L 12 Valve Inter-cooled Cummins Turbo Diesel, 5 speed Getrag transmission, and a 3.54 gear ratio Dana 70 dually rear axle. I drive this truck everywhere. Everything was swapped from the Dodge including the original gauge cluster, steering column, ABS system, and much more!! The truck only has 109k original miles on the running gear. The truck is 100% functional! The heat works excellent! The body is a 1956 Ford F-100 cab. The truck is titled as the 1956 Ford. The cab has a few mods including: channeled slightly, has 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix door handles, dual antennas, and suicide hood. The floor pan was fully custom made to fit the engine and transmission. Then the floor was fully insulated. The cab is in ok shape. I had all intentions of it always being a rat rod. We purposely painted the truck with "patina". The wheels and grille are the same color as the base color. We then sprayed flat black and sanded through to show the blue underneath. It has full heat and nice JVC stereo in the glove box with 6"x9" speakers behind the seat. The truck also has a nice 16 gallon fuel cell with working sending unit. I picked a cell that small because it can still go between 350-450 miles per tank. I never built a bed because I didn't know if I wanted to make it a Rat Rod wrecker, a flat bed, or just put a normal bed on so I left those options open. I did plan on installing a goose neck to pull a trailer but I never got around to it. The chassis is basically stock with the exception of it has been shortened 24" to except a short bed. The suspension was lowered 2" all the way around. The engine is mostly stock with the exception is straight piped exhaust, 3800 rpm governor spring, AFC turned up, and the full power screw turned in 3 turns. The good: The truck is mechanically sound. The brakes are new. All the fluids have been serviced. The engine has ZERO leaks including the front cover and seal... they are dry as a bone. I drive this truck on average 100 miles per day. It averages around 27mpgs in all around conditions. The truck has a new one piece drive shaft with new U-joints and the front end is tight with no play. The truck has a new heavy duty clutch rated for 400+ hp. The bad: The parking brake cable needs to be replaced. The rear cab mounts need to be redone. The old mounts were noisy so I cut them off and haven't redesigned them. It does need an output shaft seal on the transmission which takes no time to install (it doesn't drip... it just slings a little fluid on the undercarridge). It needs is a new steering shaft. The one in the truck was pieced together from the original Dodge shaft and works fine but I am picky and it should be redone with a multiple joint shaft with a carrier which should cost no more than $200 from Speedway. The truck could use rear tires which I could replace if the buying price is high enough. The fronts are good though. The only other thing it needs, which just started, is the speedometer bouncy and hasn't been working correctly. I'm 99% sure it just needs the speed sensor. The truck is a fully functional one ton truck. If someone were to wire up trailer brakes and install a goose neck it would be one awesome hauler. Like I said... I drive the truck almost everyday and I love every minute of it... but I need to get something more "family oriented". This truck gets A LOT of attention.
