Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1969 Chevrolet 4 Wheel Drive Pickup Truck. I bought this truck a few years back from a friend as a restoration project but do not have the time or interest anymore to work on it. As you can see in the pictures, the truck is a short wide bed and is in primer. It has a 350 Chevy engine and an automatic transmission (TH350 I assume). This truck has factory air conditioning (not working) and power steering. I believe it has power brakes as well but I am not sure. I am not a body man, but it appears that this truck has never been wrecked or in any serious accident. I will give you the details I know below, but, to be safe, I am selling this as a project truck. If you want one to drive home and drive to work everyday as-is, please pass on this one because it needs some work to be road ready although probably not a whole lot. When I bought it a few years back, I started it up and drove it around the block a couple of times but trailered it home (over 200 miles) and you will probably need to do the same. The reason I trailered it was because it was not registered, it needed some front end work (not the 4WD part but things like tie rod ends, bushings, etc, as it has some slop in the steering) and the brakes were not very good (although they did stop it). It started easy and ran good and I drove it around for a while. It has a 350 engine and did not smoke or knock or anything like that. In fact, the engine seemed very solid. The automatic transmission worked good as well although when I last drove it (over a year ago) it was slipping very noticeably after being parked for a while. I am not sure if it needs a service or what but it worked OK before I parked it. The 4 wheel drive works as well as I tried it several times and it didn't have any problems that I could tell. I parked this truck in my barn over a year ago and haven't done much with it since then which is why I am selling it. I tried to start it the other day (by putting my boat battery on it) and it would not start although it did easily and quietly turn over. I think that maybe the carb needs cleaning and/or some clean gas and a shot of ether. Maybe some new plug wires as well. I am selling it as-is, but, if it doesn't sell, I will get it running good and relist it (for a higher price). I may do that anyway depending on my time & schedule. Also, it has a homemade body lift on it which I was planning on removing and just putting some factory body bushings back on it and a 4" suspension kit to make it right. It looks OK but I am picky and don't like homemade lifts. In summary: the engine and 4wd work and are good as far as I can tell, the transmission was good but is slipping now, it has a homemade lift (doesn't look bad but I don't like them), factory A/C and power steering, no major damage that I can find anywhere, and so forth. It would make one nice truck and these SWB Chevy 4x4's, when you can find them, are very hard to come by and go VERY high. If you know anything about them you know what they are worth in good shape. Again, I am selling this as-is and as a project truck. You can contact me with any questions or if you want me to look at anything or try and take some more detailed pictures of anything (although it will be after this ice storm and the snow is over before I do). I have a clear Texas title (NOT a salvage title). I will ship it at your expense and at your arrangement ONLY or, perferably, you can come pick it up. Please do not ask me how much it will cost to ship it somewhere because I do not know. You can call an auto shipping company and give them my location (Sherman, TX 75090) and tell them what the vehicle is and they can give you a shipping quote. Thanks for looking! NOTE: This truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime!
