Military Jeep, m38a1, 1964. Its the body style of the old round fender cj's. Was told it must have been made for USMC contract, as the year was to late for Army purchases. Starts, runs and drives great. Transfer case and Transmission work well. Original 4 cyl motor. Due to 3 speed manual transmission, best speed is 45 to 50 mph. Worked over brake system and they work well after a pump or two on brake pedal. Original 24 Volt system. None of the gauges or lights function due to the old cloth covered wiring is breaking up and disconnected, but its still in place to see how to run new wire. Previous owner installed a mechanical pressure oil gauge and it reads 40-50 lbs pres. Windshield is cracked. No top or bows and seat covers and cushions gone. Has a little body rust, but not to bad. On both sides, where your outer foot would ride are rust holes, about the size of grapefruit and the cargo bed is freckled with small rust holes. Also saw a little rust flaking on back where gas tank mount was bolted on at one time. I bought this on impulse during this last summer, temporarily forgetting I have two more jeep projected ahead of this one, and can't get anything done. This would make a good project jeep, as it hasn't been messed up, ie. altered or turned into a dune buggy like my m151 was/still is. Clear Oklahoma Title. Seems like these old jeeps are getting hard to find these days.
