Vehicle Detail
1985 and 1/2.... 944 Porsche...Open-air or Snug-coupe (your choice). 1985.5 car which means that this Model got numerous factory changes all at once:: overhaul instrument layout (for readability), move fuse-box from dash to underhood (for accessability), Multiple changes to the engine/suspension. Among Porsche people this generally is recognized as a more desirable car. It is a garage kept and well maintained car with all operating books and maint-receipts. Recent maint. includes: tune-up, all new timing and balance-shaft belts, Sears DHB gold, struts for hood/hatch, tires, wipers-fluids-filters-etc. The cargo-space behind the seats is excellent, so is the access via the rear-hatch. This 944 is fairly Unique for multiple reasons. These include: Saratoga translucent top, making the cockpit more light and airy (plus factory black top in its padded bag), Automatic transmission, making it more User-Friendly than a 5 or 6 speed manual gearbox. When the autobox was first offered in 911s, 944s and other Porsches, purists did not like them. But as PML (Porsche Market Newsletter) has noted in the market trends, the automatics are bringing (assuming comparable condition) a bit more money. Because of ease-of-use or simple uniqueness? Who knows. The interior, black Leather, looks/smells new, with no abrasions or tears. All instruments are well-marked and working. The hood and hatch require only a small lift and then (surprise) the struts take over and raise them. The glossy black paint (see pics) has been garage-kept and shows it, finish has small chips, nicely touched up, as one might expect on a 20+ year old car. The sound system, factory Blaupunkt, has an excellent tone and presets. The power windows/mirrors/seats/steering all work smoothly. Carpets are in very good condition. The rear glass has good defrosters and (surprise again) a working wiper. All lights are functional/correct as is the heating and A/C. Brakes are solid and progressive.... In short, a very nice Porsche for Miata money. The only bad news (I believe in full disclosure: underpromise and Overdeliver) is that the Blaupunkt takes only cassetts, no CDplayer, and the turn-signals work fine but do not self-cancel, and lastly the pop-up top feature just makes a polite noise and fails to lift the rear of the sunroof. All of these are fixable but they do not affect the driveability of the car so.....I just never got around to fixing them. I often get comment and compliments when out in the car. It stays in the garage when not in use, I never drive it in the snow. It just passed Colorado's (stringent) emissions. I have had a roadster, starting with a 1962 Austin Healey 3000 tri-carb, since University, 44 years ago. I now feel the need for top-down motoring again so.....selling the Porsche. And if buying over the internet makes you nervous, please check my 230 or so feedbacks, many of which have "better car than the ad" and so on. I would be happy to have your mechanic checkout the car at your expense, usually $200 or so. And ask questions if I have missed something? Its a very original car in excellent condition, and I would be happy to met you at the airport (DIA) or drive the car to a truck-shipping depot (economy-shipping, depot to depot)......... so.........your move? On Jan-27-11 at 14:09:23 PST, seller added the following information: Please Note: I drive the Porsche each clear/sunny day that I can, it is a pleasure to go to coffee in, so the milage will increase (a little) as we have lovely days in Denver. Second, I have been called out of town so I will be out-of-computer contact from Friday to Saturday. Back home on Sunday AM. thanks for your understanding. On Jan-29-11 at 16:39:19 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE: OK Guys, the BIN price has fallen for the last time. Now its up to ;you.On Feb-01-11 at 13:05:51 PST, seller added the following information: come on gentlemen, I do not have the stamina to sit through another 10 day ad.....so start moving? On Feb-02-11 at 03:28:14 PST, seller added the following information: I will be removing the reserve shortly, not sure how the Ebay software treats the BIN-price under those conditions but I think it gets removed? A little confusing. However I can cancel the auction and sell to the highest bidder upon receiving an acceptable offer via ogmac3rd and then the at-sign followed by q.com. This requires coordination via phone with the seller so that it is still covered within ebay. You will note that we have not reached the 4.4 reserve so decisive action is called for. The temp here was a high of -1 yesterday and my elderly Mustang is freezing its trunk off in the driveway as the Porsche sleeps under a car-cover in a heated garage....where is the justice. On Feb-02-11 at 14:14:22 PST, seller added the following information: OK, last-call before another 10 day ad......I tried to remove the reserve and Ebay software said NO. "Reserve has to be higher than the current hi-bid", so I set it at $3810. So next bid means the car will sell. So effectivley we now have a No Reserve auction. But I think as soon as the next $50 bid occurs the BIN price will disappear? Best of luck Gentlemen.
