Vehicle Detail

As you can see, a tree fell lengthwise on my 1959 MGA in a storm about 18 months ago. This car was a driver until the storm. It has been sitting in my backyard under a tarp since then. I have owned it for about 7 years and use to drive it work regularly. The same tree fall also damaged my house and I do not have the facilities to repair the car. The car is complete and has the original 1600 engine and transmission. Although, it is heavily damaged, all the parts are here and nobody has taken the car apart unlike many of the other project cars you see for sale. It has 72 spoke wire racing wheels, dual SU carbs, and an electronic ignition. In addition, I had put in a new clutch, rebuilt slave cylinder, and a new starter before the tree fall. Make no mistake, this car will require a total frame off restoration and a lot of work. It could also be used to complete an existing incomplete project. I will do my best to describe the condition of the car, but please understand that I am simply a British car enthusiast and not an expert. As you can see, the tree fell lengthwise down the car from the front to the back. The hood, the trunk lid, the car body, the windshield, and the dash have all been heavily damaged as a result. The front driver side fender and rear passenger side fender have also been damaged. The other two fenders and the doors are either undamaged or easily salvageable, in my opinion. I believe the gas tank was also damaged but new production gas tanks are available. As far as I know, the engine, transmission, carbs, radiator, clutch, hydraulics, and rear-end are all serviceable. The top of the radiator is slightly dented as is the top of the rocker cover. The heater cover is crushed as you can see from the pictures. I assume the frame will also require work and don’t know the condition of the axles. I do have a title for this car. The car is located in Baton Rouge, LA zip code 70806. The buyer will be wholly responsible for transportation of the car. I need to have the car picked up within 4 weeks of the close of the auction. Please understand that this auction will be non-refundable. This MGA is being sold as a heavily damaged project car or as a parts car and by placing a bid the buyer assumes all risk. If the car sells for less than $1000, the buyer is responsible for payment by Paypal within 3 days of the close of the auction. If the car sells for more than $1000, the buyer is responsible for an initial, non-refundable, Paypal payment of $1000 within three days of the close of the auction with the remainder being paid within 7 days by Paypal, cashiers check, or money order. Once the total payment has cleared and the car has been picked up, I will transfer the title to the new owner. If you cannot comply with any of these conditions, please do not bid on this car without emailing me first. Thanks for bidding – I’d really like for this car to find a new home and get back on the road.
