Vehicle Detail
1971 Datsun 240Z with tons of performance upgrades. From the outside this Z looks fairly stock with only the 16' Panasport wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 DOT street legal race tires and the urethane front air dam to give it that extra little something that a stock Z is missing. The paint on the car is not new but shows very well with only a few blemishes. The fenders were slightly rolled to prevent rubbing. The interior of the car has been updated with a full dash cover, full carpet kit w/ 240Z floor mats, Momo competition steering wheel and Momo steering wheel adapter w/ Datsun horn button, Corbeau Forza seats with sliders along with Corbeau 5 point cam lock sfi racing belts (some Fatt Mat has been installed for sound deadening). Stereo was replaced with gauge cluster for Autometer ProComp Ultralight Boost and EGT(sensor in downpipe) gauges. PERFORMANCE UPGRADES: Rebuilt 280zx turbo motor w/ Weisco forged pistons and lightened rods along with ARP bolts. Jim Wolf Sport 450 computer upgrade(capable of up to 450hp depending on the tune and boost) w/ 42lb injectors and Ford Cobra MAF (mass air flow sensor / Jim Wolf rcommended) and K&N filter. MSD =6AL ignition and MSD Blaster coil w/ MSD tach adapter. I have ordered a Turbonetics ball bearing large shaft turbo($1,200) to replace the small shaft Turbonetics Super Sixty turbo(will be installed and tuned before delivery/new turbo should improve acceleration and performance). Blow off valve installed. Godspeed intercooler installed in front of the Griffin aluminum radiator. Aluminum flywheel with a Spec stage 3 clutch and a Nissan 5 speed transmission. The rear end is an R200 Viscous LSD (limited slip differential) with CV axles out of a 1988 300ZX Turbo. Complete Prothane bushing upgrade on whole car. Tokiko Illumina 5 way adjustable coil over suspension w/ Eibach springs. Techno Toy Tuning weld in camber plates and tension control TC tie rods. NISMO long wheel studs. 280ZX front brakes with rear disc brake conversion (Raybestos track pads on the front $225) along with upgraded 280ZX master cylinder. Original gas tank was removed and cleaned then a larger Walbro in tank sump fuel pump was installed with baffles welded around it to prevent fuel slosh (pressure tested). Battery was removed so you could see the battery box area (plastic tray with liner/stock battery tie down/screwdown). All items were professionally installed by ASE certified mechanic (owns and races Datsun 510). Comes with owner's manual and Jim Wolf tuning manual along with a box of random spare parts (Original seats and steering wheel, new rubber shift boot, front strut tower brace, touch up paint, etc.) The speedometer and tach are currently unhooked as I was going to replace them with Autometer ProComp Ultralight guages and never got around to it.(MSD tach adapter installed for this reason) Motorsport headlight covers included with the sale (six stick on attachment brackets included/ missing 3 of the six hex nuts for installation - must have vibrated out during driving). Custom 3 inch exhaust with small muffler. Two small rust spots were repaired in the floorboards (cut out and repaired with welded in steel). Control arms, cross brace for trans and rear end and any item taken off during bushing install (Energy Suspension)was cleaned and painted with black rust preventative paint. All bolts taken out during restoration were wire wheeled before re-installing. Frame rails are rust free. Motorsport front and rear sway bars with new bushing and mounting hardware were installed. Royal Purple synthetic fluids in trans and rear end and Castrol Syntec blend in motor (Rotella was used for break in due to high zinc content). Car was originally Nissan Orange. Please feel free to call with any questions or to schedule a viewing. I hate to sell the car but my interests have moved in another direction and it is time for this car to go. The car is a blast to drive and reliable enough for everyday use! SUPER FAST!!! Less than 2,500 miles since restoration and rebuild. Original mileage around 160,000. Over $27,000 invested in car, parts and labor.
