Ebay wont Except the Vin #... it is WDB10704210014052... This is an amazing classic 280SL with a 5 speed manual transmission. This car came from an estate in Pebble Beach California. It was babied and meticulously maintained since new. Extensive service history (3 large folders of receipts and records) since import from Europe in 1984 to present. No expense was spared in maintaining this awesome classic and it shows in every way. This is not your typical 82 SL. The 2.8 liter European spec engine mated to the 5speed gear box makes the car fantastic to drive in a spirited way , whether on your favorite back road or long distance freeway. Response and balance are superb... a true classic GT car.The Mercedes 2.8 liter 6 cylinder engine is well known as one of the best engines ever produced for power, reliability, and longevity. The engine in this car is in excellent condition and has been serviced and maintained on a regular schedule from the beginning. It had a major rebuild at the Mercedes dealer at 204,000 miles. I have the receipt for over $4000. It shows 244,000 on the clock now but I think the odometer may be a little fast so miles could be less.. The motor does not smoke or make any funny noises. It performs flawlessly and has awesome power. Manual trans shifts smooth and silky and clutch is perfect.The body on this car is in excellent condition. Has been a California car since it was one year old and it shows. Had a high quality respray of the original color at some point in the past. It has held up well and shows only minor nicks and scratches. Car is rust free with the exception for one tiny bubble on the passenger side rocker. I have the matching hard top in excellent condition and the garage hanger. Soft top shows well but has gotten a bit dry from non use. It will need replacement at some point if the top is to be raised and lowered regularly. Has 16 inch Centra rims with new tires and I have a set of Chrome 15 inch SL rims as well. I also have the original steering wheel which I replaced with the wood Nardi wheel in the photos.Interior is also excellent. Has the rear jump seats, Harmon Kardin stereo, Cold A/C. All gauges and electronics work properly. Overall this car is an excellent example of the Classic Euro SL with a very rare manual gearbox mated to Mercedes classic high performance 6 cylinder engine. This car looks and runs fantastic and is truly a pleasure to drive. I get compliments on it constantly. I love the car and have been using it as a daily driver.
