UPDATE TO DESCRIPTION BELOW 01/21/11 - Added some fluid to the transmission and found it only needed 3 qts. for full. The tahoe was driven several miles before drive slipped. 2 and 1 run strong. No visable leaking. I just wanted to update to help you know what exactly it might need. I have no experience with transmissions. Good, solid, hi milage tahoe which needs a few repairs. I've been debating whether to fix her or sell her. Decided to sell as I travel quite a bit and need to get a newer truck. I've added a few aftermarket and replacement parts. Interior: All power options work. Aftermarket pedels. Average soil marks on carpet for vehicle age. Driver leather seat has a tear (I duct taped the damaged area and put seat covers on). Radio works but has missing knobs...cd player doesnt work. Back interior plastic molding is cracked. Exterior: New windshield. Tow package. Aftermarket euro tail lights. Luggage rack removed along with front license plate mount and side moldings. Grill was blacked out but has a few chips. Passenger quarter dent was repaired but needs prepped for final paint. Body otherwise is straight with few dings. A short has recently developed before tail lights were installed that blows the fuse for the running light bulbs...however the rear turn signal and brake lights still work. Might just be a ground wire but don't have time to fix. Powertrain: Engine runs strong. New plugs and MAS and throttle body cleaned. New alternator. Transmission needs repaired/replaced. 2 months ago it dumped fluid and I lost overdrive...then slowly all the gears were lost due to fluid loss. I havent had time to inspect transmission and don't know if it needs rebuilt or just a seal problem. Only warning error I was getting prior to tranny problem was from a lower exaust sensor. I don't know if it needs new sensor or the cats are starting to go. AC doen't work (might need a clutch on compressor? Tires are in good condition with good tread. This would be a great SUV for a do it yourselfer who has time to tinker with it. If transmission was repaired I would trust this vehicle to do what I ask of it. Will need towed or trailered. Local pickup. Clear title in hand. Paypal or cash...no checks. Sold as is.
