Vehicle Detail
dynawide2005 Store 1987 Honda 250 SX. The Bad - - Rear fenders rough and cracked.Fender seat mechanism broken, that holds seat and fenders on.Can ride this way but I would probably tie it on to help support yourself.Headlight doesnt work(might be a wire loose???). Carb needs cleaning.Tires are shot.Rear tires so so have tubes, will last awhile with tubes, good tread.Front has tube but leaks down slow--front tire completely shot.Oring around shifter lever is bad-leaks alittle.it is an old wheeler and Im sure there are other things, but I havent spent much time with it.My intent was to restore or just keep for parts for my other SX but decided I do not have the time or the space. The Good -- This is an excellent wheeler to restore or run as is it is.I had it running yesterday (carb does need cleaning,it cuts out when applying thumb throttle, better as it warms up,Im thinking it just needs good cleaning.Oil is clean but hasnt been ran much, sat in garage.Motor doesnt appear to have any leaks other than gear shifter o-ring.Gas tank is clean inside very little if any rust on the top of neck, looks bright.I never took a flashlight to look, top looks good.Outside is very good other than wear and surface rust where paint was wore off from riding.Couple small dents nothing major, easily restored to new.Hard to find tanks like this.Tranny seems fine.I never took it out to ride but 1st and reverse do work fine. I havent any reason to believe the other gears do not function as they should.Again untested,Bought it ,put it in garage.I think it has new rear brakes,so I was told. I never checked.Cables could use some lubrication but function. It has new handle bars.Im sure there are more good and bad,but Im telling you what I know.I believe with a good carb cleaning, you could be zooming around in the snow tomorrow. There isnt any warranty or guarantees applied. Im selling as is.The 250sx is a rare fine these days, especially ones that run.The ones that I see are either completely toast or immaculate like my other one,and those are not cheap. With a little TLC and a few bucks,if you are a do it yourself person, this could be one of those machines. If you have any questions, please give me a call or email.I do not have a title but will right out a bill of sale for you. There isnt any shipping on this wheeler. It is LOCAL PICKUP ONLY!!!!!.I would recommend coming to look at it before buying. My opinion and yours are probably different on condition and restoration possibilities etc.Opinions vary!!!!. Again, SOLD AS IS --used machine with some very good possibilties and some issues.See Pics and make your own judgement and by all means contact me and come look at it.I put a best offer on this.Serious buyers only.If your serious send me a reasonable offer. We will work something out.No Buyer Remorse after purchase. Thanks and good Luck 217 242-6316 1/19/11 I fired up the SX this evening. I looked it over a lil closer etc. It is missing the taillight. It fired right off with the starter. The starter quit but I jumped it across the selenoid and it fired right off and the starter worked the next time, then quit again, jumped again. That means starter is fine but there is probably some corrosion in the switch. No Biggy. Kick starter works too.The carb does need cleaning but I did have it idling on its own without the choke, and it will rev fine, the biggest thing is idle.A good cleaning and I believe it will be fine.I let it run for several minutes,It did not shoot any blue,no oil burn whatsoever, that I noticed. The valves do need adjusting, there is minor upper end chatter.Easy fix again. The clutch needs an adjustment as well, again should be an easy fix, adjuster on side of the case.I would do it but its just too cold right now to mess with.It is a simple procedure,Ive done it to my other ones.It is quite common to make these adjustments on an older bike.Im really up in the air about selling it now that Ive looked it over more.It is rough as I stated but i think it will really turn out to be a decent wheeler with a little attention. It is local pickup so I would really rather you come look at it before you buy it to make sure that you are happy with it.Please dont hesitate to ask questions.
