Check out our latest offering... 1926 Ford Model T "Railroad Depot Hack"sss Railroads were spreading across the country, and resort hotels needed a means for transporting passengers and luggage to and from the Railroad Depot. The "Depot Hack" was the solution. The original Depot Hacks were horse-drawn wagons with seating to carry the passengers, and a canvas covering to protect them from the elements. The wagons were later replaced with automobiles. Their bodies were often referred to as Express Wagons, Wagonette, Depot Wagon and Depot Hacks. The design of the Depot Hacks were simple; even by 1920's standards. Due to limited horsepower, the vehicles could only carry a small amount of weight. So at times, it was more practical to use the horse-drawn carriage. To help in the reduction of automobile weight, the designs were simple and void of features that provided comfort. As automobile production progressed, so did the capabilities and possibilities for Hacks. Features were added that focused on safety and comfort. The quality and craftsmanship improved as well. Automobile manufacturers offered these Depot Hacks and Station Wagons as special orders. Independent body builders were then contracted to manufacter and assemble the special application bodies. The bodies were comprised of usuallyAsh, Maple or Oak. PaiPainted surfaces and wood finishing on this example are nicely done and in good condition. The interior and exterior of this Model T Hack shows bright and lustrous. Tires are recent and free of dry rot. BBrass tack upholstery work is nicely done in vinyl for the sake of durability. eThe Engine and Drive Train runs exceptionally well, and most importantly starts reliably. Brakes are reliable as well. An air shock system with custom fabricated brackets were added for the purposes of added payload and additional passengers. An added value for a parade car vehicle full of local dignitaries on the heftier side. Not a lot to describe on this one, because there is not a lot to it. Runs good, lookes great !!! Henry Ford, the grand hotels of yesteryear, Yellowstone in It's infancy, and your opportunity to own a little shred of this bygone era that will never be repeated again.
