Vehicle Detail

Hello Continental collectors, Here is a beautiful and rare 1956 mark II coupe, it runs very well and has just had all of the mechanical maintanance done under the hood and the brakes have been completely gone over as well. The engine runs well enough that you can drive this car home (especially for a shorter trip) (I sent it to good mechanic and asked him to do anything needed) there may be something more to do, although we don't know of anything specific, there is always something to do with any classic car before getting in and driving on a long highway trip.(Ex.we did not do wheel alignment, etc.), but the engine is healthy and she runs beautifully! I have taken 65 large, clear photos- because, as they say- a picture is a worth a thousand words. You can also see the photos as a slide show- click below or copy & paste: http://s730.photobucket.com/albums/ww309/antiquebabies/1956%20CONTINENTAL%20MKII/?albumview=slideshow Please email with any questions you may have or you may call me from about 2pm-9pm any day 917)687-6290 As you may know: (look in wikipedia or just google search 1956 Lincoln Continental MKII to see the most interesting history of these very special, low production cars) , these cars were made for the rich and famous in 1956, with only about 1500 made in 1956 & about 500 produced in 1957 and at a cost of $10,000+ only the very wealthy could afford a car like this, it was roughly the price of a small home! (Frank Sinatra , Dean Martin, Eisenhower, Rockafeller,Shah of Iran, Henry Ford II, and other "big shots" were all owners of one! In 1956, a average Lincoln, Chrysler Imperial or Cadillac could be bought for about $3000+ . These coupes certainly were and in fact still are- considered elegant, magnificent and they truly are "Continental" in their design . The 1956 Continental has been considered one of the most beautifully designed cars of all time! This particular car I bought less than a year ago; I had another MKII some years ago and I loved it, so when the opportunity for this one came about -I bought it! Now, I just do not have a place to store it, so I'll part with it; I enjoyed owning it for a few months. Everyone who sees it, loves it! It is as you can see it is beautiful, and I think that burgundy with the burgundy & white interior is the best color for the mark II (I do also love them in black). This Continental came from Wisconsin, it belonged to a devoted club member (I am including all of the original ephemera, newsletters, owners & shop manuals, sales literature, interesting personal correspondence related to the car, and much more!) This member was most active in the early 1990's and I believe the restoration was done at that time. It is certainly showing signs of sitting in storage for the past 20 years and some flaws may warrant doing some restoration to have a really nice driver. The windows were acting up from sitting so I had a mechanic put a new motor in the passenger window, but it still needs the solonoid ($100-$150) to work properly (it can go up & down now, but to do it from drivers door master switch you'll need to buy & install that little solonoid. Drivers window works fine, drivers 1/4 window not moving, rear pass 1/4 window works fine, all glass is good! Tires are ok for local driving, they have exc tread but they are older, so you might change for long travels. Interior is presentable but is leather and has wear and flaws; the carpet is worn out and needs to be changed. Carpet in the trunk might be useable and might cleanup w/shampoo? Dash is decent with a few scuffs on the pass side, I think that all of the guages are working INCLUDING the clock and the factory tachometer!(clock still keeps good time after 55 years!) Underbody is undercoated, the car is built like a tank, the most important main center frame is solid, floors look good and are all there (by drivers heals you have a little soft spot, not a problem, but I'm trying to let you know what I see.) underbody looks ok overall, there were obviously some repairs here & there during the previous restoration or past 55 years. The shocks are fine and were tested. The chrome is ok for a driver. The car has flaws, it is not a perfect one, which could sell for $60,000-$90,000, I priced my car for one third of that-and this MKII is fine to enjoy as a driver. I had someone give me their appraisal for this car, they said I should not take less than $35,000! But, I would not expect that much because I want to sell it this week! It is a solid car and you can count on it mechanically-so you can have a lovely driver now with very little that is really "needed". If you have any further questions please do email or call me (eves best) and ofcourse while it certainly is photogenic I do recommend that you come to see it in person if possible as it is 55 years old and I am ofcourse selling it AS-IS WHERE IS to the best offer or highest bid! A $500 Non-refundable deposit is due within 24hrs via Paypal and balance to be paid in full with 7 days. Pickup should be within about 2 weeks or asap Please! I have 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM MY 12 YEARS ON EBAY, and previous cars that I have sold from my collection have had satisfied buyers, that should let you know that you can buy this Continental with confidence, but do try to come in person! It also comes with a car cover and a very rare dealers promotional book! The Continental mark II is a magnificent "hand-built" car, they were called an "American Rolls Royce" and this one will positively be sold now. I have priced this one at a fair enough price to make it a decent deal. PLEASE make your best offer or highest bid; or use the Buy it Now to assure that you get the car. Thank you!
