Vehicle Detail

I am listing this Trans Am for my good friend. The car is an incredible head turning machine that is built for fun but can be used to compete. He has showed up for years at parties to the amazement of all who see him approaching. The owner of this car paid serious attention to his choices on all bolt-ons and modifications for every minute of it’s truly loved 22 year ownership. I hate ads that go straight into complex engine details, so I’ll save that for last once you’ve heard about the car itself. Please direct all questions to the owner at this number: 440-665-4979. Absolutely no soliciting or 3rd party sales will be accepted at this number, so don’t waste your time. PLEASE DO NOT E-MAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS. 1985 Pontiac Trans Am with 44k original miles, 434 small block Chevrolet pump gas motor. ORIGINAL PAINT. Second owner. The goal when this car was bought was to make a street legal road racing car. ALL unnecessary standing weight was removed such as carpet, back seat, front seats, and many other small trim pieces that weigh the car down. The rear hatch glass was replaced with a light Polycarbon unit (netting a huge weight savings). Immediately it must be mentioned that the car boasts very rare desirable Centerline 17” billet brushed aluminum wheels. The front tires are long discontinued like-new Goodyear Eagle GSC’s and the rears are much needed brand new M/T Drag radials. A ride in this car raises one’s heart rate quickly, along with an irresistible smile with approval. The handling was clearly a priority as it rails on even the tightest turns, easily pulling over 1.30 lateral g on the street! The drivability of this car is amazing, as the suspension feedback and driver feel is near telepathic. Understeer has been nearly eliminated, and oversteer is effectively controlled by choice of tire. It has some rattles, and has nothing to sound deaden them. Overall weight is approx. 2800 lbs. The paint is showing it’s age in many ways, as it has little left to buff, and has a lot of panel road grime wear that is mostly in the form of a sparse sandblasting appearance near to all four wheel splash locations. In bright sun the car reveals swirl marks that yearn to be clay barred, but may be thin as it is original and 25 years old, but be rest assured that the paint is still quite good enough to impress at a car show or gathering. The car has NEVER been track raced ever, but it is surely and certainly able. It is driven on pump gas always and even acceptable on the highway as it has a 3.27 rear gear. The chassis is still as new and in it’s original chassis black. Zero rust. The body is the same. Zero rust. No filler, no accidents, no surprises. Dash and gauges still completely intact. All lighting and indicators work. Battery in trunk area. Manual windows. Headlights work but need to be manually raised by hand spinning a knob due to a possible relay repair needed. Car holds safe cool temperature regardless of ambient air tempurature. Bottom line: A well loved wicked street thrasher with a tiring original paint job that is a couple of steps away from being a weekend track warrior. This car has only one word to describe it accurately, RAW. Now the details: 434 Small Block Chevrolet that was custom built specifically for this car by Gary Box of Box Performance Racing Engines. You can search Box Performance all over the web to see his work. He is not only famous for his engines, but for successfully building unreal acceleration motors that easily often go 1000+ passes at the dragstrip or 7000 to 9000 rpm in non-stop seasonal road racing. Gary Box’s personal car has been in numerous challenges for years as the reigning street legal drag racing champion as well as Pinks All Out “quick-8”, and he is most famous for his work on the NHRA Pro Stock “Catch 22” car driven by Larry Nance formerly of the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team. You can trailer the car, or drive it home if you wish. Do not expect to come nitpick and low ball on this car. It is WELL WORTH the money and more. The owner of this car has made many smart decisions and has spent money wisely, and has moved on to better things, therefore it would be foolish to waste your time and low-ball offer in hopes to buy at a ridiculous price. Don’t waste your time or his. If you see it, you will understand that it is certainly worth the time and money.
