Vehicle Detail
Anyone who really knows the 74-93 Ferrari V8s knows that this is one very rare and under-rated Ferrari. Please don't confuse this with the 1980 Mondial 8, the Mondial Ts and especially the Coupes were very capable and extremely good road cars. For example, the ''Original Ferrari V8'' by Keith Bluemel shows that the 1980 Mondial 8 did the 1/4 mile in 28.8 seconds while the T Coupes did it in 13.9 seconds, just as an example of the performance difference. Featuring the 348 engine and gearbox that was longitudinally layed out, the gearbox was behind the engine in the ''T'' layout. This was the first Ferrari that featured electronically adjustable shocks and had a new cockpit design compared to the 1980-1988 versions. I have a letter from Ferrari North America showing that only 43 total T Coupes were ever brought into the USA which makes it a very rare Ferrari and you very rarely see one for sale. I owned a 1983 Silver/Red 308 GTSi prior to my T Coupe and without hesitation I would own this car instead, the 1989-93 Mondials had the old-school charm of the early cars but with more modern look/feel and more horsepower. I bought this one in 2007 and completed the major service in 2008 by Cavallino Automobili in Ocala, FL. I have all the receipts from that major as well as all the other things that were done to the car. Have all books/records and you're welcome to look through those before bidding/buying. I'll be happy to help with your inspection, but please have all questions and inspections taken care of before auction end and if you bid, please bid to buy and collect the car within 3 days of auction end. Best thing to do is to call me at 352-318-4911 and I can fill you in on any questions you have. Features a Tubi exhaust which sounds absolutely amazing with the 3.4 engine, and is $5000 if you wanted to add one to a Mondial that didn't already have it. Tires are in great shape with about 3000 miles on them. Also, the wheels are Speedline Stars which are modeled after the 288 GTO wheels which Speedline also made. Speedline as you may know is an OEM supplier to Ferrari but the Mondial never came with these wheels which were massively expensive back in the early 1990's when these were put on. I don't have the receipt for them as a previous owner put them on but if I remember correctly were something like $1200 a wheel back then and they transform the Mondial and with the wider fender flares of the T (compared with the earlier Mondials) the look in person is incredible. Mondials always look way better in person than in pics as many Italian designs do. One of the caps popped off while driving and I couldn't find it. Also, one of the Prancing Horse centers on one of the wheels also came off. I've been trying to hunt those pieces down but haven't had the time to contact Speedline directly. The interior is in incredible condition as is under the chassis/wheels wells, etc. Front and rear trunks are in great shape as is the engine bay. There are some chips in the front bumper and front part of the hood and some superficial scratches here and there but paint is in very good shape. Clutch, transmission, engine all work as they should, does not smoke at all when warming up and oil temp/pressure is perfect. It is a great car that you can drive cross-country if you want to. Besides for being rarer than hen's teeth compared to the Mondial T Cabriolets the T Coupes are also much stiffer which makes for a better handling car. I think you're either a coupe person or a convertible person and I always prefer a coupe. I believe the lines are purer, you never have to deal with leaking tops or their replacement expense, the handling is sharper, the whole chassis feels rock-solid. All 43 of the North-America bound T Coupes came with sunroofs and if you like wind in your hair, you have that option. I want to sell the car this week, so I've got no reserve on this auction and the starting price is very low to get the ball rolling. Paypal deposit of $500 within 24 hours of auction end, and full payment within 3 days. Item Photos JPEGbay.com - free eBay hosting
