With the independent rear suspension from the legendary E-Type, the 3.8S had vastly superior handling compared to the live rear axle suspended Mk.II with whom it shares the center body section. The trunk was also redesigned to provide more luggage space and had the added advantage of giving the car a much more elegant appearance. They share the same 3.8L dual overhead cam engine and, in this case, automatic transmission and wire wheels. This example is obviously a restoration candidate, but given the solidness of the basic unibody, it is worthwhile. In the photo's you will notice rust in the lower body panels and tire well, however, if you study the pictures of the under body, you will note that it is very solid. There are also a few small rust holes in the floors but nothing serious. The trim will need replating or polishing to be show quality. All of the interior is rough and should be redone. The good news is that there are a number of suppliers for any and all of the upholstery and inside components. In fact nearly all of the other parts for these cars are also readily available from reputable aftermarket companies. I started this car and moved it into this parking space about 3 months ago so I know that it runs and the transmission works in forward and reverse . Since the fuel tanks haven't been cleaned, I used a seperate gas container to accomplish this so you should plan on loading it on a trailer or rollback with a winch for transport. Of course because of the age, the tires are weather checked and leak air. If you buy this car, you will be responsible pickup.
