1987 Ford E-350 Horton body Ambulance powered by a 6.9 litre diesel engine with Dual Rear Wheels. This Ambulance was owned by the same fire company in Montgomery, IL since new. It has changed ownership in title form a few times only because of towns changing area coverage. The great thing about an ambulance is they are garage kept their entire life, washed every time they get dirty, and kept up on a regular maintanance basis. This 23 year old ambulance is the proof of garage kept maintanance. The cab is rust free and straight. The aluminum body is in very good condition, with a repair on the drivers side in front of the rear wheel where someone misjudged a corner and removed the chrome wheel lip moulding and some of the paint. I took photos of the repair to show the bad. Overall the body is in excellent condition. The interior is remarkable for an unrestored ambulance. All of the interior cabinets are in excellent condition, the counter tops and cushions are like new. The mileage on this ambulance is real, the odometer has not rolled over. There are 2 new batteries just installed. The diesel 6.9 litre starts and runs like a diesel should. All of the lighting and sirens are still installed. The radios and pa system turn on and make the old 10-4 good buddy noises. Tires on the front are Goodyear Wrangler H/T with even treadwear and good tread depth. The rear duals are Firestone Transforce H/T with even tread wear and good tread depth. There is one mud flap missing in the rear. The date of mfr of the cab is 5/87 from Ford. The Horton vin #11-02874966 was mfr 11/87 chassis/cab 451. Front GVWR is 10,500 front rated at 3880. Wheel base is 138", which makes this very manuverable for a dual rear wheel vehicle. The keys for all of the doors, and locks are included. The locks function on all doors except one. The lock behind the right rear wheel will not open. With the exception of the carpet on the doghouse from the fireman's boots, the interior is in excellent condtion. All of the switchs are labled, the only one that did not turn on was the rear light bar. The radios and p/a system function as removed from service. This ambulance could be put back into service by a town on a limited budget that needs a backup unit, or shown as a survivor and start doing the carshow circut. The rear is as removed from sevice. Perfect for the transportation company that handles vehicles for movie productions.
