Vehicle Detail
For sale is an original 1929 (1/2) Model A closed cab pick up truck. This vehicle is a real driver and has been used in parades, school events and for general purpose use going to and from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn Michigan. This truck runs great with 97654 original miles on it and drives comfortably 45 to 50 mph. Henry Ford knew how to build tough trucks even back then. The truck has many new mechanical parts including; new tires, inner tubes and wheel liners, new battery, completely new exhaust system and new front end stabilizer bars. I installed an original autolite heater that fits over the exhaust manifold and safety pipes hot air into the cab. This autolite after market item was a popular addition to Model A cars and trucks. It is an antique heater and works better than any heater I have ever had in a car. Because this vehicle was used as a truck, it has 1930 wheels and tires, they are wider and provide more stability and a much better ride than the narrower 1929 wheels. Under the hood, the engine is all original. A newer alternator was installed for trouble free starting and battery charging. New hoses, belts, points, plugs, electrical junction box and mechanical linkages were installed. There is a new Moto-meter (thermostat), fuel cap and windshield wiper. The glass is all original and the pop open front window had all the chrome hardware replaced. The interior was completed replaced with the original look of the 1929 in a natural brown vinyl. This included new seat and seat back springs and new seat covers for both, new door panels and under dash panels make for a completely new interior. Under the door panels and seat were installed a sound deadening insulation for a quieter ride that can be easily removed. A new wooden floor was installed along with a new original rubber floor mat. The stick shift and brake arms & handles are new chromed original from MAC auto. New rubber boots, brake pedal pads and rubber grommets were installed where needed. All of the window glass had new channel runners installed with new felt padding and chromed handles for smooth window operation. The dash panel was painted and new chrome hardware installed along with the original working speedometer, odometer, light and fuel gauge. The cab roof was newly installed, insulated black vinyl from MAC auto as well. For the safety of driving kids around, this pick up truck has seat belts installed which can be hidden under the seat if you don't want them seen. All in all this is a fully driveable and fun vehicle to have. This is not a trailer queen or a don't touch me truck. It has some original body repairs to the vehicle that I think were done back in the 50's making the repairs antiques as well. I found touch up paint that closely matches the brown paint and used it where necessary. There are normal nicks dings and dents on this truck as it was used on the farm for more than 75 years. With some light body work and new paint, this truck could be show quality. The truck bed has new replacement wood and a few small areas of rust that is very typical on the model A,'s, but nothing is perforated thru . All in all this truck looks great for its age and runs equally well. Please look at the pictures and call (734) 667-2834 or e-mail mzal@comcast.net if you have questions. This truck will be listed with a reserve price and all sales require a $500 hold deposit and payment in full via a bank cashiers check. Buyer is responsible for pick up and/or shipping. Vehicle is legal and can be driven short (50-100 mile) distances. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
