Vehicle Detail
Pretty straightforward here: expenses after a car accident have left me forced to sell some of my 'unnecessary' toys and my bike has to go. It's a 2001 Honda Rebel with only 5400 miles on it (may differ very slightly as I ride whenever the weather permits, but will NOT be any more than 50 miles maximum). The bike is commonly used as a starter bike as it's very easy to learn on but I really have enjoyed it as a short-trip commuter bike. It's in excellent mechanical condition, is very cheap to insure (I'm a 27 year old male and pay $100/year) still looks pretty darn good, and has averaged me well over 60mpg... nearly the same mileage as comparable 125 or 250cc scooter but a little cooler. The bike was/is originally metallic blue (as you can see from the fenders, battery box, etc) but the gentleman that owned it before me was a huge St Louis Blues fan and painted the tank metallic yellow and white. I personally think the combination works very well and the bike would definitely be great for a fan of the Blues, Michigan, etc. The only thing that's been done to the bike aftermarket is a sissy bar/rear seat (it can actually carry passengers with ease) and it runs/rides perfectly. I've owned it since May 2009 and have only had to perform routine maintenance: oil/fluid changes, chain lube, replace the battery, etc. Depending on how much you ride, the tires may need to be replaced by the end of riding season next year, but still do their job. I did have it lightly winterized but as I said, I do try and ride it on occasion so my advice would be to get a oil/fluid change in the Spring: but you could go without it if you ride a few times now-March to keep things circulating. Mechanically, the Rebel simply has no problems and is one of the most reliable bikes Honda has ever made. Cosmetically, it only has a few issues that I want to address: there are a few small scratches and a little dent in the gas tank, a few scratches on the rear turn signal (the bike tipped from standing upright to hit the concrete wall in my garage but did NOT fall down), and the headlight is re-enforced with silicone as it was bouncing around in the housing(no longer an issue). I always polished the chrome on the exhaust/wheels/etc but it could probably stand to be done again in a few months. As far as I know, the bike has never been laid down and I think it still shows well for being 10 years old. The scratches on the tank are the only 'significant' ones and they are not rusting or anything like that: a $20 stick-on tank guard would cover them up very nicely. As for the technicalities: Auction winner to pay a $250 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours. The remainder is due within 5 additional days via cash or Paypal with a 3% surcharge (I will send an invoice if this is your preference). If you're out of the area, I will assist with loading and/or working with shipping that you arrange, but I will not set it up by myself. As long as the bike has been paid for in full within the terms above, I do not have a problem holding it for up to 30 days in my garage (I'll mail you the title). The weather is being a little uncooperative for taking good pictures, but I will have a few additional tomorrow with close-ups of the scratches, the odometer, etc. These photos, however, give a good impression as to how well it looks cleaned up a little. Also, I will include 1 helmet (I have one large and two medium) with the bike and the opportunity to purchase two additional helmets for $50 each (well over $100 new). Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or to request specific pictures or information. Thanks a lot, Happy New Year to everyone, and Happy Bidding! On Jan-03-11 at 14:54:49 PST, seller added the following information: Update: I'll be trying to add a few more pictures--of the small scratches on the turn signal (the coating is sort of a chrome film/sticker that's scratched, I'm sure it can be replaced for a perfectionist), the scratches on the tank, a shot of the bike with the rear seat installed, and the odometer (currently shows 5294-- I might have over-estimated that I'd be able to ride enough to get up to 5400 by the auction sale, a little over 5300 is more likely). If for any reason they don't show up, please feel free to email me. Thanks!
