1980 Mercedes Benz 300D diesel sedan!Here it is. A chance to own an all original, classic, reliable, Biodiesel, Veggie, sunroof-working Mercedes in fine shape which gets 30+ mpg! This strong diesel car only has 103,000 true, original miles; it is extremely difficult to find these cars with such low mileage. This car is in immaculate condition! It has been well-cared for and is in near showroom condition! It's a true time warp with such amenities as WORKING ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING, ELECTRIC SUNROOF, ORIGINAL BECKER STEREO, and more. The description may be a bit laborious but I am quite familiar with these cars. I have high standards/expectations for authenticity and originality. EXTERIORThe first thing to mention and the best part is the paint. The paint has a wonderful, glimmering shine and is in fabulous condition. The car has been garaged most of its life and it shows. The car maintains a clean California Title. The car has tinted windows all-around to reduce sunlight exposure and thus preserving the interior and lowering inside temperature during summer The body is clear of dents and dings. All the original German moldings are also in excellent, straight condition. The chrome bumpers both front and back are in unmarked perfect shape. The chrome is beautiful. In addition, the chrome rims are a great addition to accent the paint. The chrome rims and linings were bonus features that one could add-on at the time of purchase in 1980, thus influencing the RARITY of a car like this in such good condition. INTERIORThe overall condition of the Palomino interior is excellent. The driver's seat, (which is another place to check for a high mile car), is in super condition. The springs are firm as well as the padding. All four door panels are clean, and NOT ripped. It is super rare to find one of these classic cars with 4 perfect, tight, non-stretched door panels (see pics). All the interior chrome is in LIKE NEW condition. All the original, often-missing, small inspection plugs are still attached too. The passenger seat and the back seat are in fine condition. The door lock/trunk lock vacuum system works well. All the carpets are original and NOT ripped, torn, faded or stained. The floors have been well-protected over the years. The stock palomino base ‘carpet’ looks brand new all around. In addition, this car will include 4 BRAND NEW Black Lloyd floormats. All of the wood is in excellent condition and not split or faded. The center console is also in good shape with all the switches and knobs functioning. In addition, all of the windows work in normal fashion. Included is a working, original Mercedes Benz BECKER radio with working speakers. Fresh air vents, heater and air conditioning all work very well. UPDATE: The Air Conditioning and Heating system has been updated from the original one. The Heater servo has been replaced and updated to a reliable electronic unit. ALL THE GAUGES WORK. Speedometer needle doesn't bounce, and the odometer works properly. The dash has had a soft cover installed but it still retains a presentable dash underneath. The rear seat belts are in good condition. The center arm rest is wonderful with no cracks at all. All the doors close tight and do NOT LEAK AT ALL. MECHANICALThe car runs very well, typical of a 100,000 mile diesel. Transmission is good and so are the brakes. The steering is tight on this car too. The car was just checked by a certified Mercedes Benz mechanic and everything is in great condition. This car is currently driving on any combination of VEGETABLE OIL (Recycled or New), BIODIESEL, (B5, B20, B99, etc.), and regular DIESEL. The single-tank conversion contains a COOLANT-HEATED DAVCO 234 filter, and a Fuel PUMP. The coolant heats up the fuel and filters it using the same element. Because vegetable oil and biodiesel are more viscous than regular diesel, they require thinning before they can be injected. This is where to coolant comes in. Coolant is circulated around the fuel in the Davco filter and thus heats the fuel (which makes it thinner and safe for injection). This particular filter has been widely used with great success. I spent $1200 to get this wonderful system installed. This does not change the fuel economy (mpg) of the car and offers an eco-friendly alternative to typical diesel with carbon/particulate matter pollutants. The car is a super clean, California-registered car and is registered and ready to go. If you would like to take it for a test drive - no problem. Cars like this don't come around very often.
