Vehicle Detail
Car is mechanically excellent with numerous receipts for frequent service and upgrades, runs smooth, shifts smooth, corners great, an easy car to live with and has that Mazda longevity-reputation together with hign MPG. Passes the stringent Colorado emissions every time. And if you look out on Ebay you will see multiples of 160/170K Miatas still going strong and passing emissions. NEW in last 8 months: Minilite-style old-school rims together with new tires (only 2 mos old they are)/stainless dual exhaust from Flyin Miata/new radiator and hoses/plugs/wires/etc. UPGRADES: new top 2 years ago, roll-bar (hard dog from F.M.), pop up old-school gas cap,free-flow reusable aircleaner + kit for cleaning/reoiling MAINT: oil and filers every 2500 miles, set up for winter-garage-hibernation with coolant-change/brake-fluid flush/trans-fluid flush/diff-fluid change/ CAR HAS: leather (no rips, just slight age-patina)/Bose am-fm-cd/PW/PL/PM/cruise/RWdef/AC/excellent heater and.....it all works. To put the car's value in perspective, upgrades alone cost: SS-exhaust $580., radiator $415.wheels/tires $875. mounted OTD, free-flo intake $85, gas-cap $60. roll-bar $550. comes to about $2600. so considering the BIN of $4450, you are getting a very solid car for only $1850. That is (1850 + 2600. in upgrades = 4450) ............ and you can go to the F,M, website to look at the great product line and verify prices for your own wish list. On a recent 800-mile trip I got 32 to the gallon while at 75 in Cruise. When I had replaced the tires and rims just before the trip I put one size-oversize tires in the rear to accent the 4th gear overdrive. Works well (no rubbing anywhere) and saves fuel, even around town. Before letting the rims be fitted with tires (all weights inside) I waxed them (turtlewax) inside and out twice. This insures that they can be adequately cleaned of brake-dust in the average carwash. And the dual exhaust gives it a slightly deeper exhaust note, just enough so you can tell.... The 4-speed automatic trans (4th is O/D) is both a concession to my age (70 in May) and assurance that the engine has not has its bottom-end-revved-out. Heading to the mountains for brunch with the top down and coffee in the cupholder with something-good in the CD player and a lady in the passenger seat.....a reason for ownership indeed. And the nationwide (and local) Miata clubs are great for socializing and parts. Using the recommended factory oil each change, the oil pressure is, at normal operating temp, well over half way, factory correct (see pic). The new radiator keeps the temp slightly below halfway (thermostat limited). Very nice mechanically. The body has a few dings/paintchips as expected of a well cared for 12 year old and the passenger mirror housing is losing its paint on the top, only that one place (see pic). I pictured it because I have always tried to "underpromise and overdeliver", makes for a happy transaction. I did get an estimate from a Maaco shop that has done good work for me over the last 15 years, of $860. to remove each ding and repaint it the same color with clear-coat. The estimate is included with the packet of receipts. It was to go to the paint shop this winter before the Porsche showed up and ...the rest is history. My reason for selling is that I have a two car garage and (suddenly) three cars. I like to buy em/ enjoy em/ sell and move on to the next one...and a week ago I was out for brunch and saw something I had never owned: a Porsche with automatic! Did another impulse purchase (being single means never having to say you'r sorry) and now my silver Miata has a black stablemate. My elderly Mustang 5.0 has to sit outside until the Miata finds a new home. I would be happy to have your mechanic evaluate the car at your expense, its about $200. and Ebay will give you a list of mechanics in this area. And since buying a car over the net can make you nervous? Please take the time to read my 200+ feedbacks, about 15 of them involving cars. I do not buy junk and conversly do not sell any. The toys leave my garage better than they arrived.... AND if you are cash strapped a bit? I would let the car go $500 cheaper than the BIN price if you will take the older rims/tires that it rolled in on (see pic), only about 6000 miles on the tires even. So I would remove the Minilite-type rims/tires and replace them with the older set. I would keep the newer set. This would involve buying the car by hitting the buy-it-now button and.........I would then accept the BIN price minus $500. so....consider it if you like. Ask questions...hard to anticipate everything that might come up in someones mind so...thanks Clarification: if you take the BIN process-price then the extra 4 rims/tires are included, three can be carried on board, one in trunk and two (wrapped in plastic bags) in the passenger seat. But one would have to go to your house via UPS. Or if you are driving it back home and do not care for the extra baggage, then ship all 4, up to you.
