Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1970 Scout 800A SR2, original color was Bronze. Written on the original owner's manual is SR2 dollup scout. I don't have proof of this, but between what is written on the owner's manual and the evidence I've seen, I am very sure this is a Scout SR2. As far as I know, there were only 500 of these made in Bronze. I haven't had time to spend on the Scout. The previous owner said the Scout needed carb. work (someone put a GM carb. on it) and needs a wheel cylinder and possibly some exhaust work for inspection. I have had the engine running, but it needs tuning / carb. work. Previous owner said the vehicle ran and drove okay, other than the carb. but I cannot guarantee this since I have not had it on the road. The body of the Scout looks good. The paint job looks to be a good amateur job. The paint job shines, but has numerous imperfections, such as runs and overspray, etc. It looks good, but not great. The Scout has a 304 V8 engine with borg warner automatic transmission, which is seldom seen in a Scout this old. Roof is excellent, other than the aftermarket roof vent, which leaks. (Roof vent and interior trim was not my idea.) Miles show 109,917. Tires are Michelin P235/75R15 and have about 50% tread. Custom upholstery showing some wear with rips on the driver's seat at the stitch lines and warping of the custom headliner. The Scout has sliding rear windows and the floors are solid. There appears to be some rust at the hinge on the lift gate that has been painted over. 100" wheel base, dual fuel tanks. Overall, body seems good, but has had prior body repairs done. Frame and drivetrain look good. All in all, this Scout looks to be a decent driver as-is, or could be restored some day back to its original SR2 paint scheme and interior style. Vehicle is for sale AS-IS, WHERE-IS. Serious buyers may inspect vehicle at my location--contact Seller. Non-refundable Deposit of $200 due within 48 hours of close of auction. Balance due upon pick-up. If balance is made through Paypal, funds will need to clear prior to pick-up of vehicle. Vehicle to be picked up within 2 weeks of end of auction, unless other arrangements are cleared by seller. Local delivery possible for additional fee. NOTE: Purchaser of Scout has option of purchasing a complete extra 4 speed transmission set-up out of a Scout 800 equipped with a V8 engine. This would include bell housing, transmission, transfer case, cross member, drive shafts, clutch and fly wheel, clutch / brake pedal assembly and linkage. Price of this package would be additional $300.
