Vehicle Detail

1975 Honda CB550K Merry Christmas!!! The original owner was 45 years old when he bought this bike new in Michigan. He lived 1 mile from his job at a GM plant. For 20 years he rode this bike, only on nice days, 1 mile to work, and 1 mile home. When he retired and moved to Florida he took it with him. As he got older, his wife “wouldn’t let” him ride it on the street anymore, so he continued to ride it around his yard until the second owner, in KY, bought it with roughly 3800 miles on it. A very responsible man in his mid 50’s, he rode it nicely for 2 years and put it up for sale last spring. I (41, father of 3, classic motorcycle enthusiast) could not resist and bought it immediately. Odometer read 4909. It is accurate, everything checks out. The following is a list of work performed immediately after I bought it: Rebuild carbs with OEM rebuild kit(s) and stainless steel hex screw set. Rebuild front master cylinder and caliper. Every single seal and moving part in the front brakes is new, OEM. R&R rear wheel, brakes, swing arm, replace the swing arm bushings. Rear brakes cleaned, adjusted. New tires and tubes, front and rear. New clutch and cable. New plugs, oil and filter change, drain & replace fork oil, lube and adjust chain, linkages, cables etc. Relocate starter switch. If you look closely you can see in the pics a very nicely placed HD starter button right next to the horn. New battery New side covers fitted, re-jetted and new plugs at about 5500 miles. Oil and filter were changed again about 200 miles ago. Everything checked out. I have put 942 miles on it without a problem. I am very proud of this bike and I know you will be too! Bid with confidence, this is a great bike!!! Please note this is not a restored cycle, just one always cared for by responsible, mature adults, and most importantly has not sat and rotted for years. Note the seat, grip ends, foot pegs and turn signals-all original, all unscratched. This bike has never been dropped. Even the original turn signal audible warning indicator works. Key cylinders match, seat lock works, horn works, all lights etc. This is the last year for the on/off switch for headlights, it too works. No “dry rot”. All rubber, plastic, vinyl, etc. is in great shape. Owner’s manual is still in plastic (it says 1976, so maybe not original?). Original tool kit in vinyl pouch in great shape. Kickstart and electric fully operational. Original air boxes, boots, clamps, overflow tubes, all there, all clean and correct. Down deep in the framework the wires are all clean, easy to identify, no gunk build up. It’s like a ten year old bike in there. As for imperfections, you can see from pics the paint on the tank is somewhat faded, as well as gauge faces. It did spend years in that parking lot on sunny days, so there is patina to the chrome, frame, etc., reasonable for 35 year old bike. This can be seen in the pics. You may want to put a new exhaust on it, as there is some rust and small hole(s) forming. This didn’t stop me from riding it, and I’m sure it won’t stop you. Eventually it will need one. Mac makes a good 4 into 1 that bolts right up. The re-jetting mentioned above allows for you to change to the performance exhaust without needing to do any carb work. It also made it A LOT quicker. Although a great old bike, I must disclose there are no warranties expressed or implied. This bike is sold as-is, and sale is final. $500 deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of auction end, remainder due within 3 days of auction end. Sorry, no refunds. Have a plan to get it home before you bid. I will gladly deliver, pre-paid, up to 200 miles for 1.50 a loaded mile. After that, you are better off using a delivery service. I have and will gladly work with shippers. Due to problems in the past, I do ask that anyone with a feedback score less than 10 please contact me before bidding, or I will reject your bid. Other than that, bid with confidence, you’re getting a great running bike that will give you years of reliable service, and turn a lot of heads while doing it.
